Meta quetion about our modern world... and acceptance of torture, and mercs |
|
Well we have been downsizing, and we got out of a few miniature games a while ago... but I was thinking if our games and popular culture have made some things more acceptable. No this is not about the kid who plays grand theft auto and then kills a cop... oh the horror... it is actually more sophisticated than that.
Think about it... many of our media made Mercs chic, even if not widespread in some cases they did. Whether this was Battletech (wolf's dragoons anyone? Kell Hounds?) Insert Cyberpunk here... Gibson in particular seemed to be a prophet... or Universal Soldier for a more movie oriented theme, they all had things like the "good merc" and the "bad merc" as a theme... or the super soldier theme.
I can't help but wonder, and i mentioned some by name... but there are many more examples... if our popular culture prepared us for this crap? Indeed a meta question... if I have ever asked one.
