What do you expect from President Obama's remarks tonight?
1. To recognize that these horrible acts of violence occurred during a public meeting with the citizens that the Congresswoman represents.

What are your expectations?

3. He's in a no win situation.
... and it seems the MSM has already set him up for condemnation with their headlines of the 'importance of this speech'.

7. I expect them to be appropriate to a Memorial service
That is to say, I doubt he will venture into political territory here. The purpose of the event is to mourn the loss of life and support the grieving, and also to try to pull the nation together. There will be plenty of time to discuss issues that touch on the politics of this during his SOTU in another few weeks.

He, by contrast, will sound like the gentleman and statesman that he is.

10. No matter what he says, small minded jackasses will cherry pick isolated quotes
out of context and bombard us with inane "critiques" that were drafted before the text of the speech is even known.

Bet on it.

11. I think he will keep the focus on the victims, their lives & heroism
and suggest the country should follow their example in working together for the better good. I think he will be very non-judgmental and apolitical in that sense.

13. Nothing.
Or maybe something similar to what we saw after the Gulf Oil Spill. Attempts to comment on broader social problems, but other than those moments he will stay largely on the surface.
