A personal observation...America a history of us |
|
I know the history channel spent a lot of money on this...but it is a fascinating little propaganda exercise...if you take it at face value, for Tge most part natives are nowhere to be found. Right now catching up to the misssissippi culture. Cahokia, near present day St. Louis, had over 20k people at it's height. It was the size of London. Yet rarely do we see that channel cover them, or the Pueblo...and when it does...it had tobe Aliens. I hope students appreciate the fact that there is a history before Columbus. No, it is not Maya Megalithic structures...or the zero...but it is a high level civilization nonetheless.
Oh and yes, that series is American Exceptionalism for the modern period. It is elite history. Yet, their off handed mention of some of the little people...that is New History, and Howard Zinn...it means it s increasingly contaminating it...why the hurry to rewrite standards. I mean little people never have a role in it...:sarcasm: from the point of view of elites.
