South Carolina is still fairly rural, but it has been becoming less and less so over the past couple of decades. I am not sure we even had many regulations to gut in the first place. Development is rampant, especially along the coast. In my town, which is in the Midlands, they keep slapping up homes and commercial buildings on every square food of property they can find. This despite the fact that hundreds of houses and buildings sit empty and for sale. On my street alone, there are five houses for sale in a two block stretch. There will be six as soon as I find a realtor. The house next door went up for sale in April. Not one person has come to look at it. Meanwhile, I keep seeing ads for new developments...

Goddamn republicans. A pox on them all.

Wyden's not so bad either. And while I would be hesitant to say that there is any State which is free of corporate corruption, I would not hesitate to say that Florida is extremely corrupt, probably one of the leading states for that sort of thing.
