9. South of Barbados often means Caribbean Sea
and Gulf of Mexico - real bad news for Hispaniola, Jamaica, Cuba and Gulf of Mexico States.

10. It was strange how the west side of Lee seemed to stay right on the state border.
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 10:36 AM by NCarolinawoman
One time it looked like it briefly crossed over toward Houston. and then it seemed to say, "Nah, I really don't want to go there."

I have often heard hurricanes described as "entities". This one sure seems like a tease.

8. 20% Chance Of Turning Into A Cyclone In The Next 48 Hours, BUT...
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/overview_atl/refresh/atl_overview+gif/1315233964.gif

A VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 500 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE
CAPE VERDE ISLANDS IS PRODUCING A LARGE AREA OF CLOUDINESS AND
THUNDERSTORMS. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE CONDUCIVE FOR SOME
DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS IT MOVES
WESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 MPH.
THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW CHANCE...20
PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

16. Minor grammar quibble, malaise. You can be "rife with" but not "rife for"...

18. 15 mph? Maybe the reason why there is only a 20% chance of developing?
Edited on Mon Sep-05-11 12:31 PM by Lost-in-FL
It is going too fast to form anything even when the conditions are good.

I would be worried if this system slows down.

I am no expert on weather but lived through too many of these storms.

15. Invest 95 - what an odd name.
If it behaves anything like the bankers and financiers have been, it's likely to be a bad one.

1. A VIGOROUS TROPICAL WAVE...ACCOMPANIED BY A BROAD SURFACE LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM...IS LOCATED ABOUT 550 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE
CAPE VERDE ISLANDS. THIS LARGE DISTURBANCE HAS BECOME MUCH BETTER
ORGANIZED DURING THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS...AND ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN CONDUCIVE FOR A TROPICAL
DEPRESSION TO FORM DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO. THIS SYSTEM HAS A
HIGH CHANCE...60 PERCENT...OF BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING
THE NEXT 48 HOURS
AS IT MOVES WESTWARD TO WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT
ABOUT 15 MPH.
