I give it life, and I set it free.

5. Wait, other threads say the hoots and whistles are perfectly fine.
Are they OK or not? I think not but others disagree.

10. I got the message of the thread title. My question was how it would
mater if that type of behavior is/was acceptable. Or am I missing something (quite likely).

11. The behaviour is of no concern. The commentary is all that matters, or so I have been told.
So, build your own meme. Let's get down with ourselves in this our post-truth society.

13. I wasn't there in person so I don't know what the mood was
I do know that the event was held in a basketball stadium (14,000 people) and overflowed into the university's football field. link

From the article: The crowd in the main venue warmed up with a number of live performances, though "Amazing Grace" was almost drowned out by cheers as the surgeons treating the victims of the massacre were escorted to their seats.

Spectators also roared when Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik was shown on the large screen. Dupnik drew praise and criticism after he blamed the rampage in part on extreme political rhetoric, bigotry and hatred.

The Right was upset at the tone of Sen. Wellstone's memorial service, so I expect them to do the same here. In fact the guests on AC360 have already commented on it.

Any crowd will set its own emotional tone. If the vast majority had wanted reverent silence, those who made the first attempt at cheering would have gotten the message when no one joined them.
