How many of you have birthdays on 9/11? |
|
My oldest son was born on 9/11. He's fine with it, it's just other people making unintentional insensitive remarks that bother me, not him. The usual response on his birthday is, "what a bummer birth date". Why can't people just say "happy birthday!"?

She's the only one I know. We just wish her a happy birthday and let her have her day (we're in NYC so it's a bit harder to ignore the date's connotations here)

9/11/01 was my 21st b-day. I was actually home on leave to celebrate. After I saw the second plane hit I called my unit and was told to be on standby. 4 hours later my leave was cancelled. Less than a month later I was in Afghanistan.
Oddly enough, I know 4 other people who all have 9/11 b-days. Two of them I grew up with. None of them related.

on Sept.11, 2001. The first few years people expressed sympathy but when he turned 20 no more remarks were made and we don't expect any this year. His paternal grandfather was born on 12/7.

He thinks the date motivates acts of peace or something like that. He will be turning 18 on Sunday.

we were going to go and celebrate at a restaurant in Hawai'i's largest shopping center. They went and closed the center, for fear that the terraists might try to take out Longs Drugs or L&L Drive Inn. :eyes: So we ended up in Waikiki instead.
