Your house vs. fire: Perry takes the side of fire

Under Gov. Rick Perry (R) this year, Texas slashed state funding for the volunteer fire departments that protect most of the state from wildfires like the ones that have recently destroyed more than 700 homes.

Volunteer departments that were already facing financial strain were slated to have their funding cut from $30 million to $7 million, according to KVUE.

2. Actually, I think this is a vital point that needs to be spread far and wide.
When you cut funding to vital programs the population suffers. When you cut funding in a year when you're experiencing the worst drought and fire season on record to firefighting services you're asking for a disaster.

5. Yep, and he's trying to move his idiocy up to a national level.
Most of the rest of the US doesn't know what an idiot he is, yet. ;)

6. Well then it's time to call him out on a national level. If the Rice Univ. MOB can do it,
then the rest of us need to figure out ways to do it, daily, 'religiously' if you like.
