Lincoln quote on Labor.

"Labor is prior to and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration." - Abraham Lincoln

I believe the gentleman understood how things work, as opposed to those in his party (and many Democrats) who came later.

1. Today's Republican party
is not the party of President Lincoln. He was a man of principle. A patriot FAR above what is happening now. :patriot:

5. That is a heretical, communist statement in the modern Democratic Party
I keep thinkling there will be a Republican/Democratic swap as during that period - if we don't get representational government back.

or ?

6. I love seeing Libertarian types try to spin that one when I post it.
The amount of special pleading and angry claims of "quoting out of context" are hilarious.

7. "Free labor" was a primary principle of the early Republican Party.
I think the latter-day GOPers have taken that to mean they shouldn't have to pay for the labor of the ordinary worker.

:hippie:
