republicans, making voting more difficult....that's what they do.

tennessee law says that if you are over 60 you don't need a picture on your drivers license....therefore many 'older' voters don't have photo i.d.

KNOXVILLE (AP) – Tennessee’s new law to require nearly all voters to show a photo identification card at polling places beginning next year has led state officials and interest groups to plan education campaigns before the 2012 elections.

Tennessee is one of six states with Republican-controlled legislatures to pass a photo ID law this year, joining 17 states that already had the requirement.

State Election Coordinator Mark Goins has already held conference calls with county election officials about implementing the law beginning Jan. 1. He said the state’s voter education campaign and exemptions for some voters will mitigate the effect of the new law.

“If we do our jobs right, we believe it will have limited impact,” Goins told The Knoxville News Sentinel.

1. My mother's driver's license had her picture on it past 60.
When she surrendered her license because of Alzheimer's they gave her a picture ID issued by the state to use. This is the first I have heard of over 60 being exempt, but I still have my first driver's license, which was a green card with no picture.

• If you are 60 years old or older and choose to have a non- photo license, you may obtain this by mail or internet. You will be sent a new non-photo license to replace your old license. Please note: if you travel, you may wish to consider obtaining a photo license to assist with the necessary credentialing to board a commercial aircraft, passenger rail service such as Amtrak and cruise ships. This will require you to go to your nearest Driver License Service Center to have a new photograph made.

2. This isn't good.
Their voter disenfranchisement program is going strong.
