Among those killed were U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63; Giffords' director of community outreach, Gabe Zimmerman, 30; and 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green.

13. This was a real event for real people
It was not for the media. It was not for me, it was for real people, who were really touched by this awful shooting.

These pictures brought that home for me more than anything else. I am saying some extra prayers, and crying some tears, for the real people.
