Everybody is talking about the blood libel reference, but I want to bring your attention to another line she uttered that nobody is talking about.

It was her reference to "our exceptional country".

That was a nod to neo-con and American exceptionalist crowd. Also a very important vote in GOP primaries and they are very influential at the right wing think tanks.

1. Why shouldn't we strive to be exceptional?
Don't see why we let the Repubs take that over.

5. It's a Nationalist, RW, Militia and whatever else dogwhistle.
"Blood Libel" is a dogwhistle for the anti-Semites, Identity Xtians and Rapture-ready crowd.

I didn't think, until today, that she's working to foment rebellion/revolution.

7. She's really, really dumb - maybe stupider than the Shrub
Somebody is fomenting rebellion/revolution through her. We need to find out who and soon.

6. It's a code word for Nationalistic Fervor
Don't look at the word itself, look at what it stands in for.

10. Well, they did wrap the flag around themselves
leaving the rest of us out. So why not use words to get rid of the rest of us?

13. Because the idea of "American Exceptionalism" = Korea, Vietnam, Laos...
...Cambodia, the mess in South America, The Middle East.

The Idea of American Exceptionalism is how you as a nation justify riding rough shod over others about the world for the gain of Americans.

America: A great country, but exceptional?
Network NewsX Profile

Tuesday, November 30, 2010; 8:11 PM

Regarding the Nov. 29 front-page article "Conservatives' new focus: America, the exceptional": ( <----- MORE AT THIS LINK AS WELL )

American exceptionalism? Perhaps. Our financial institutions have caused the most exceptional economic crisis since the Great Depression. Day after day we run the most exceptional trade and budget deficits in history. Millions of Americans believe we are the exception to the idea that man should be a responsible steward of his environment. Exceptionally, we are the only significant developed country that does not ensure every citizen a decent level of health care.

America is a big country. A great country. An entrepreneurial, innovative country. But exceptional - somehow above the rules that apply to other mortals? Sorry, but I don't think so. That kind of exceptionalism leads to - and perhaps is - arrogance.

4. We're exceptional alright
We are the exception to the practice among western democracies who provide health care to their citizens.

We are the exception that continues to exercise the death penalty.

We're the exception that spends such a high percentage of our budget on defense.

We are exceptional in many ways, not all of them positive.

9. Yes, you are correct
American "exceptionalism" is doctrine with the rightwing don't let them actually "think" folks. But I think even they will run screaming in fear of Palin. She's a loose cannon and could be very damaging to their ends. I think even they recognize that she must be barred from higher office at all costs. Kinda like why you don't hire the town drunk to drive your limo.

15. Is she a neo-con?
I think she's half and half. The true tea baggers hate the neo-cons.
