The Titanic and the GOP

So we all know that after the Titanic sank, they no longer allowed inadequate safety measures on ships. They needed enough life boats and other equipment.
It was the logical and moral thing to do.
But today after unregulated Wall Street sinks the economy, after an under regulated drill platform does untold damage to the coast, today's GOP cries for less regulation of the very things that caused the catastrophe.
If they were around in 1905 they would have demanded that ships stop carrying life boats.

1. Requiring ships to have lifeboats just means we have to compete with ships from other countries...

... that can offer cheaper tickets by not having to pay for lifeboats!
