How does a person reconcile being a christian with being a republican?

(By Christian, I mean one who pays a bittybit of attention on the teachings of Christ.)

1. Because Rethugs are committed to hypocrisy...

In that, they absolutely excel. It isn't hard for Xians to become RETHUGs because they have no real understanding or respect for the tenets of Christianity. Like Rethugs, they only want to punish and penalize others and the Old Testament gives them the license (and blueprint).

I will, to my dying breath draw distinction between XIAN RW fundamentalists sects and Christianity. Though, I am agnostic, I still retain a great deal of respect for those who actually live the tenets of Jesus. There are countless millions of these LIBERAL Christians, deserving of our respect. Unfortunately, we only tend to hear from the Xians.

4. i'm agnostic myself, but still find
jesus alleged teachings to be transcendental. Not easy, but simple.

5. The concept of Christianity isn't partisan.
I don't know where people come up with that! I always clarify by saying the "Christian Right" and not just Christians in general. This is from an Atheist.
