I hope all Democrats see what's in store for America |
|
because these scumbags have one goal - hide their differences and get rid of Obama. Keep on helping them and this is what you'll get next year.
Time for Democrats to UNITE to prevent these ReTHUG scumbags from gaining power.

22. How about the president really starts standing up for |
|
democratic values instead of just giving them lip service
How about if he starts giving the democrats something they can stand behind instead of giving the republicans 98% of what they want
How about if he stands up as if he is the leader of this country

12. Yep, because as much as people are saying |
|
how incredibly stupid Perry and Palin and Bachmann are, I don't think candidate stupidity will stop Republican voters from trying their best to elect ANY of them, no matter how idiotic they are.
And, from what we've seen in the past, I would say that being an idiot is probably a PLUS for them. We all know how they feel about the "intellectual elite", etc.
I have no doubt whatsoever that Republicans would vote for a garden slug if one were running. So it's really not encouraging to know how dumb most of the candidates are. It won't matter to Repubs whose major goal in life will be to rid the WH of Barack Obama in 2012.

The Obama administration has been helping the GOP by justifying their austerity agenda.
How low is the expected standard of Democratic politicians? As long as they are better than Bachmann or Perry that is good enough?

What if the only way to prevent a Republican sweep (WH, Senate, Congress) was to have Obama step aside as a candidate. Things get much worse and we'll be hearing a lot about LBJ's 1968 speech. And Humphrey damn near won it! Johnson would have been BURIED.
So, seriously, what's more important to you, if all the polls (including internal polls) continue to show a freefall: 1. Obama as the nominee. 2. Preventing a Republican president.

every single President since LBJ (including LBJ). A vast supermajority of liberal Democrats support him. Sure, there are some that don't, but that will ALWAYS be the case regardless of the President (on both sides), and on the Democratic side the number is the lowest in 50 years.

I have no doubt Obama can have the nomination. The question is what if it were clear that his renomination would be political suicide?
What's more important to YOU?
1. Obama as the nominee 2. Preventing a Republican president

23. Preventing a Republican president is obviously the most important goal. |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 01:15 AM by BzaDem
But I question whether replacing Obama in the primary will make preventing a Republican President any more likely.
If Obama does not voluntarily step aside, a primary would ensure the Democrats lose in November. While I would vote for whoever the Democratic nominee was, the split in the party would ensure its defeat and possibly cause permanent damage to the ability of the party to beat Republicans (at least for multiple election cycles into the future). Fortunately, I do not believe this would happen, since there is basically no constituency that could propel a primary challenger to the nomination. Obama's record support among the base is even more remarkable given that it has been achieved in such a bad economy.
But even if Obama was willing to voluntarily step aside, I still think we would do far worse with any alternative. Given the fundamentals, I think Obama is doing much better in the polls than anyone could have predicted, and many Americans who don't currently approve of his performance like him personally and want him to succeed. This, combined with all of the Republicans' embrace of the Ryan plan, may be enough for Obama to win even if the economy continues as it is. I believe Obama's re-election is at the very least more likely than not. But if it is not, I do not believe anyone else on the Democratic ticket could do any better.

we get a Republican President, and we will have him/her for at least 8 years.
If you think 90% of AAs are going to vote for an Obama replacement, you're totally out to lunch!
Please stay away from political analysis.

Of course there's been only one black president. That's not the issue. Good try though.
I asked if Obama stepped aside as the nominee due to polls showing overwhelming defeat.....etc.
You said: "If you think 90% of AAs are going to vote for an Obama replacement, you're totally out to lunch!"
You then added:
"Please stay away from political analysis."
Another way of what you said is: "If you think 90% of AAs are going to vote for a WHITE replacement, instead of our BLACK president, you're totally out to lunch!"
Wouldn't you agree, Frenchie? How else could one possibly interpret your statement? WHY can't you just admit that your commitment to Obama is based on the color of his skin? In my opinion, you say it without actually "saying" it anyway.
Yes...I think my analysis is pretty good.

34. I'm not 90% of AAs....... |
|
My commitment to Obama is based on a whole lot of things...... Just like my commitment to other Presidents I have supported in the past has been.
My point is that African-Americans have voted for pretty much nothing but White Folks till 2008, and they've had no problem with that.... Your problem is that people don't all think like you, and whatever you might think of the President, there are plenty folks, both Black and others who don't believe that this President has been criticized fairly and in perspective, and they do believe that he deserves, as Bill Clinton and Bush got, to have a 2nd term... and no, many will not come out to vote for the replacement that you choose for them.
So what I'm telling you is just a simple fact, and you can make all of accusations you want, but it will remain a fact, which is why your analysis stinks like shit.

31. I'm almost (not quite) convinced that (one of) the main function(s) of these guys is |

to make Obama look good (no, great!) in comparison. Sort of like Palin... except that the times are considerably much more extreme now (compared to 2-3 years ago), and someone like Perry (worse than Bush, literally!) has a real chance of being elected.

32. Yes. And they've got dozens of ALEC voter ID laws percolating... |

across the country, and which are being challenged in the courts. This is bad news in a close election that the "pundits" (who make their money from campaign 30 second ads) are predicting 15 months in advance. Conventional wisdom is just that. NOT wisdom.
