Does Anybody Think That Palin Was Set Up?.........
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 11:47 PM by global1
Just a thought.

If the Repugs that make the deals in the back room realized that Palin was a loser in 2012 - does anybody think that they purposely sabotaged her and gave her bad advice to put out this statement today (bad timing in light of the memorial) and include language like 'blood libel' in the statement. They knew that this would put perhaps the final nail in her presidential aspiration coffin.

I don't know if she'll be able to recover from both her pre-shooting rhetoric and symbols - and now this statement.

We all suspect that she didn't write it herself - that it was written for her and she was told that this was the thing to do. She's too stupid to challenge what she was given to her to rehearse and read. So she just went along with it, read it into the camera - with an angry and indignant tone - and sealed her own fate.

It seems she has gotten good advice up till now - but this shooting Saturday - her handlers just didn't anticipate. All those symbols and words that they put out there to provide Palin with a personal image - won't work anymore.

When the Giffords interview on MSNBC 'words have consequences' was aired after this shooting - I think her handlers realized she was cooked. They didn't know what to do for a few days. I'm thinking they looked at some polls and the powers at be told them - she's done - time to dump her. Set her up with something that she won't be able to recover from. Remove her from the picture so she doesn't become a hindrance and embarrassment to us (Repugs).

I think she was set-up. I don't think she knows what hit her today. I'm thinking that we still haven't heard the last of her - because I'm thinking that she will try and defend herself on this statement too - but this time without the help of her handlers.

I don't think it wiil work however - and I think we will soon be seeing the last 2 minutes of her 15 minutes of fame.

Has anybody else out there in DU land have this thought?

4. No. I think she's pretty much on her own, now, and even when she was w/McCain
a big complaint was that she didn't follow along and do what she was told.

I just think she didn't know how to handle it (God forbid she express a sincere apology) and had her people come up with this Infomercial to try to point the blame elsewhere. Don't know how that phrase got into her speech.

6. I think she's arrogant enough to think she can compete with the President
Could she have done this on her own? Yes.

But is she also ignorant enough to have been set up? Yes. She has NO grasp of any issues, and I imagine her team is equally tone-deaf, hence the use of "blood libel" in the wake of the shooting of a Jewish congresswoman. I can see her falling for bad advice as easily as she can make bad decisions based on her overinflated sense of her own political relevance.

9. We should be so lucky.
I don't really know what the GOP wants to do about her. I think they would sign on with Bozo the Clown if they thought it would get them the White House. That said, I think the "sane" Republicans would rather not have thet be their only option. So they sort of dance around her, embracing her in order to cover their bets.

As long as sarah gets voters out she'll be of use to them. When that stops they'll cut her to the curb.

11. No, she doesn't need to be set up. She does it to herself.
She's a narcissist who thinks everything is about her, and she lacks the insight to see when she's doing something spectacularly stupid. While she probably didn't write the speech herself -- she doesn't know enough words -- she would have reviewed it, and she just didn't have enough brains to realize how awful it was.

I'd bet anything that if the only way she could have gotten elected in Alaska was as a Democrat, she'd have run as a Democrat. Or a Libertarian, or a whatever

It does seem possible the GOP establishment has her (ahem) in its crosshairs

23. I'd been hearing rumors of some sort of party take down
after the election. Perhaps they were just waiting for the right time and jumped on this.

Certainly Palin hasn't been any worse than the rest of the hate spewing ranters on radio and TV. However, the opportunity for the party to rid themselves of a rising star that turned out to be a twisted tinsel failure and embarrassment to the party proved to great for them to resist.

You bet all this stuff has been fed to the media by the boys in the back room. It was just too good to pass up.

24. I certainly don't believe that she wrote that response herself.
It contained words she can't even pronounce much less use coherently in a sentence. It was obviously ghost-written but I can't believe that the GOP would waste it's time and money deliberately setting her up to fall on her face. She does that quite well on her own.

Hopefully all her rhetoric will finally shoot her off into the oblivion in which she belongs.

29. I actually thought it was classic Rovian
that everyone on cable and mainstream tv was bringing up her crosshairs-- they kept talking about it. Notice no one lead with Beck , Limbaugh or Savage....
The messaging was very clear. He knows how to take a crisis and make it work for him.
The Repubs can't really trust her as she has turned on them before. She will not be a 2012 candidate on the Republican ticket. She might continue to try as her ego is large than her home state and throw us some great drama during the Repub primaries. However, Alaska is full of small planes.. she would be smart to avoid that.
If she is smart enough to see the writing on the wall, she might be able to leverage herself some kind of appointment, ambassadorship or cushy job in one of their bullshit thinktanks. (Sarah Palin working at a thinktank, an oxymoron-- kind of like Bachmann being on the Intelligence Committee). That way she can be trotted out on the panels Fox has all the time and still be on TV spouting her opinions without challenge.

You could be right...the amount of negative press she's getting seems way out of proportion to what we normally see. Maybe it's because the democrats finally have found their voice or maybe it's because the republicans would love to pimp slap the tea baggers back in line.

Who knows...

Sarah should not know what "blood libel" meant in any historic sense, IMO.

She may have been given that entire scipt to read by her advisors/handers.

We might be able to soon discover or discern whether or not she was actually setup by them as well.

38. No, the Republican Party likes having her around.
Not because they want her to be their nominee, but because they want a third party to be so far right, openly, that it desensitizes most of America to out and out fascism. That way the Republican Party will become the new center (that is what they want us to think, I mean) and the teabaggers will be considered the right and the centrist Democrats will be the new left. The real left will be slowly taken out of commission entirely. It's happening now, actually.

They are manipulating what the "center" is, still. Of course, the Republican Party will not put everything they have behind Palin, because she's there to help them play their hand. So, they let her do her thing to make them look less extreme and at the same time make any Democrats the slightest bit left of center look like the extreme on the left. They are still manipulating the "center." Palin is their pawn. She's a grown woman. If she was set up, she allowed it, by allowing the Republican Party to use her for that purpose. She's a grown woman. She can make her own decisions. Because of that, I don't think she was set up. I think she is following the plan just like the Republican Party wants her to and she is complicit in that plan. Simple as that.
