Graphic and haunting description of fire devastation in Texas |
|
http://www.kxxv.com/story/15413921/exclusive-news-team-goes-inside-the-fight-for-leon-countyExamples the fire's extraordinary heat are easy to spot. The ground is covered with gaping craters where large evergreens once stood tall. Vaporized down to the roots by the inferno, all that's left is a chalky white outline where the trunk came to rest.

1. Local news had this story about a 101 year old man |
|
who hid in his bathroom as the fire destroyed his house. He seems to have escaped without a scratch but now he's got nothing. Sorry about the ad, can't control that: http://www.koat.com/video/29115676/detail.html

3. My friend fighting the fires... |
|
was telling me how the roots are spreading the fires.
He said, you would be working a fire on a bunch of trees and across the road, a fire would literally pop out of the ground.
As a side note, he told me the pine cones bursting sounded like grenades.
