Hope...Pray...Or Whatever That Nothing Bad Happens this Weekend
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 11:00 AM by rsmith6621

...Cause we all know that the republicans will use any event, situation or circumstance to further DESTROY this country and those middle class and below, they certainly would use another attack to derail Obamas so called jobs bill from seeing the inside of a congressional hearing room.

Also they will spend the next 14 months saying....SEE OBAMA DID NOT KEEP US SAFE......

Hope this is just a bunch of media HYPE.

1. Nothing's gonna happen, in fact, I suspect the opposite.
Yep, I'm extremely jaded toward this Administration and our gov't as a whole, to the point I believe that last night's terra-alert was released just to capitalize on their ability to make people meek and nervous whenever they damn well want to, and then they can trot out the "ever watchful, continuing war on terra (don't mind us while we take more of your civil liberties AND money) bullshit meme".

3. Hope nothing bad happens because if it does it's a political loss?
Hm.

5. Instilling FEAR is the #1 motivation
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 11:21 AM by Generic Other
The "enemy" wants to keep us on edge. Now, can someone please tell me who the "enemy" is? Al Q? Cheney? The Teabaggers? The government? The alphabet agencies? Obama? Hell, I don't know who I am supposed to worry about.

on edit: I forgot the banksters and Wall Street. Oh and Walmart.

6. What?
How about hoping nothing happens because people could die. Hoping nothing happens because the families and survivors are probably still traumatized.

7. Ehhh. They are really milking this. It's so obvious. They want people constantly fearful.

8. You are more likely to die by bee stings or shark bite than you are by terrorist action.
THAT'S the media hype I would like to see.

10. I just LOVE that use of the rolling eyes smiley.
You're right. As far as those victims and their families are concerned, it doesn't apply.

But the fact remains, the chances of an average American dying from such an event are statistically insignificant.

As a professional over-the-road truck driver, I am much more in fear of my life from the random acts of the average American automobile driver with his/her head up their ass than I am of some terrorist.

11. The average truck driver can't have their head up their ass?
Hmmm......

I, like most Americans, am not afraid for my own personal safety. We also don't equate people being murdered for being Americans with dying by bee sting or car accident.

12. Is this the "Royal 'We'"?
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 01:17 PM by A HERETIC I AM
Look, what happened on that day ten years ago was absolutely, with no doubt horrible and tragic. I went through it too, just like everyone else.

I am by NO MEANS equating being murdered with dying by Bee sting. What I said in my first post was that it is statistically remote that you or anyone else is going to die from such an event and by follow on to that, I want to suggest that the American people have been CONVINCED by their Government since time immemorial to be afraid of someone or something and that reports of imminent terrorist threats should mean NOTHING in the lives of you or me or anyone we know.

And yes, PLENTY of truckers have their heads up their asses too.
