I love passion in politics as much as the next fellow. But my passion is usually reserved for Democratic ideas. I have a difficult time getting passionate about taxcuts or trade treaties or cuts in Medicare or Social Security. These are Republican ideas and it is a rarity to see a politician get passionate about them. Because passion usually originates in ideas seeking fairness and equality and progressivism.
We should step carefully into this minefield. We should save our passion for ideas that promote the Democratic Party, not capitalism or Republicanism. We should not be blinded by the passion of any politician that would promote such ideas.
Just my two cents.

The voters might as well vote for real Republicans if our party is just a pale imitation.
Thats no way to win elections.

NO idea is "Democratic" or "Republican". Ideas are either "good" or "bad". Tax cuts are only bad when they are advocated without identifying other revenue sources or spending cuts. Would a permanent working class tax cut be "bad" if it was paid for with Defense cuts?

7. The tax cuts supported in Obama's speech are |
|
generally Republican proposals.
The tax holiday for SS is a bad cut.
The cut you mention is not in the jobs plan.

3. The passion is needed -- directed at any and all who advocate these cuts. |

4. I think part of it is strategy. |

To show that Republicans will not even vote for their own ideas as long as they are supported by Obama.

6. So, we're to count on Republicans to save us from Republican policies? |
|
I don't think this is a good plan.

10. Trickle down economics and stimulus has worked so well |
|
that we get excited by trying it again. There are poor CEO's out there that haven't been able to afford that yacht on each coast and ports they frequent, and they passed up on a Lear jet to get around because this country punishes them for their "success". Are we going to deny them another vacation home or trip to exotic countries? Come on, let's be fair now.
