Out, lent one to neighbor, the batteries out, I cut into quake supplies... Yummy canned fish!
My cable...will have to fight the old set to get volume back. Ah back, even the tv... AC is off and will stay of..the grid is as fragile as can be.

9. My sister has solar-powered pool lanterns. |
|
And a solar battery charger for the cell. But they got power hours before you. They're in Rancho Penasquitos.
I heard from them around ten but then the phone cut out. Woke up to an email saying power was back.

5. So, how did the folks around you handle no power??? |
|
Any riots? City burn down? People having screaming meemies?????
Or just a huge freezer party? ( that's what we do, clean out the freezer and invite all the neighbors)
Did you have any way of knowing how long it was supposed to last?

Checked on neighbors...
Had some canned fish and chips for dinner.
Need to go get some groceries and make fresh coffee.
I will get food out today though...minimize energy use. The grid is really unstable still...got it back in the morning and was off later.it is back on.
Oh and how long? They expected three days...took eighteen hours...

17. Freezer Party ... lol. |
|
My whole neighborhood was BBQ'ing and cracking beers all night long. We even had an awesome neighbor deliver bags of ice to everyone in our community because nobody could find ice in what stores remained open.

12. The scary moment was...all radio stations save one were down |
|
Ironic our emergency station is because the transmitter is in Tijuana at far more wattage than the FCC would... They are a clear channel.

20. Well we need to get a Coleman stove for the quake kit |
|
And have some cash at hand at all times...otherwise we were pretty ready for at least three days...would hate the fish, but keeps you fed.

21. Don't forget the can opener. I have seen so many emergency kits |
|
that do not contain one. It is such a commonly used item we take them for granted.

We're set.
I always recommend a Swiss army knife and a honing stone.

We saw the stars the morning of the 94 quake. All electricity was off.
