Man Assaults Neighbor Over Noisy Generator During Blackout
KTLA News
4:35 p.m. PDT, September 9, 2011

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. -– Sheriff's officials say the noise from a generator prompted a man to attack his neighbor during Thursday's massive blackout.

The dispute left one man in the hospital and the other in custody.

Authorities say the dispute began just before 11 p.m. when Peter Quill complained to his neighbor about a noisy generator.

The man refused despite repeated requests from his neighbor, Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

1. You always hear about a-salt, but never a-pepper.
I wonder why this is?

4. I can relate. W/out power you're sweltering in the heat, barely able to sleep
But your neighbor with the generator is running his window A/Cs, so has his house closed up, which drowns out the sound of the generator for the guy running the generator.

Went through that during one week long power outage w/ my neighbor - that generator made a hell of a racket. However, it never occurred to me to assault him. I envied him having the backup power source.

5. Generators are noisy but they are necessary when the electricy goes out.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 08:23 PM by Tx4obama

When hurricane Ike came through Texas a couple years ago and everyone lost electricity
my whole neighborhood was very noisy because of everyone's generators running for TWO WEEKS.
After the first couple of days you get used to it.

Then about six months ago I had a tree fall that took out the electric line attached to the house.
It took THREE DAYA to get it fixed because the 'service box' was pulled off of the side of the house and when that happens you have to have it reinstalled 'up to code' - which meant an electrician had to come and take the breaker box out of an inside of the house closet and rewire it to the outside - then a city inspector had to approve/tag it before the electric company could attach their line.
For those three days since I was the only one making noise I felt bad for my neighbors while the generator was running, but they all were very understanding due to the situation we were in.

p.s. We did not run the AC since it is a central unit and can't be pulled into a generator. But used it for the freezer, wifi/laptop, a light, a fan, and a small TV.
