The Global War On Terror was actually the official name for this bullshit under the bush maladministration for quite a few years, and its acronym GWOT is hardly obscure. Or at least I didn't think it was obscure. Sorry about that.

the Western Empire after about 100 years of nearly continuous assault. On the other hand we appear to have spent around 2T and counting to kill about a dozen actual terrorists and a couple hundred thousand 'collateral damage' victims.
