'FISHING OVER FACTS'

We expect, and hold our presidents to, a higher level of wisdom and expected prudence. The Village Idiot isn't someone I would entrust to make my morning pancakes, as I'd be concerned he would allow a small fire to turn into a massive blaze that burns my house down and that of dozens of neighbors.

B*sh gives the appearance of a former drug user and alcoholic, and yet, he was placed (Al Gore received more votes nationally, and by all independent review, more in FL) into power by the US Supreme Court stating the recount was to end in Florida. The next 8 years of him in power were an absolute travesty that led to massive warfare, domestic suffering, and the torturing and murder of thousands. He made a fool out of us every damned place he went, and when his country appeared to need him most - he sat blank eyed holding a kid's book titled, "My Pet Goat". What a hero! Of course, he would say he didn't want to startle the kids, but moments later burned fear into their minds for life as he used them as a backdrop to announce terrorists had just attacked America. Yeah, the kids were being thought of all right...

We all known the box cutter wielding devils did the actual horrific actions on that day. But, when people who are hired to protect this country do their job, and the information makes it's way to the president as the most important thing that is needed to be shown at the start of the day - and he ignores it by saying, "All right. You've covered your ass, now.", then you know the moment when we truly needed our president the most - and he failed thousands of people who would die a month later, and thousands more who would die in his false wars. He could, no, he should have enacted an immediate review on FAA readiness and ordered new plans to protect America based on the information hard working American agents were providing to their superiors which made it to the president on that fateful day when he failed us at the time we needed him most...

In the photo from August 6, 2001, below, the man on the left is holding the President's Daily Brief, entitled that day, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US". Commander AWOL snipped, after he was read the brief, "All right. You've covered your ass, now!"

What a dreadful pResident this country had during a time in history when we needed a leader. So, what was so important that B*sh had to go do on that August 6th morning?

Fishing, of course.

1. "All right. You've covered your ass, now!" Obviously, not the 1st time the subject had come up.

And, not the last. The CIA would repeatedly brief Bush in the months before 9/11 about the al-Qaeda attack cells known to be inside the U.S.

Poor man, he was just tired of talking about it. Why wouldn't everyone just let the subject drop?

2. SO true! Good point. He was being briefed about these cells and other info repeatedly and he got
sick and tired of hearing it, because his skill set was limited to the ability to put away a 24 pack of beer, or clearing brush - this man was not fit to be the President of the United States of America.

Imagine President Al Gore from 2001-2009? That thought just amazes me at how different life would be now... and how many thousands would BE alive.

3. Last night, MSNBC replayed the entire morning of NBC
live coverage of 9/11. I watched a bit because I really didn't remember the live coverage and I wasn't watching NBC that day anyway.

Two things jumped out at me:

Both Andrea Mitchell and Jim Miklaszewski repeatedly said that "Senior WH officials" have assured them that there were no specific terrorist threats to the US, just generalized global threats.

The other really disturbing thing was Tom Brokaw chomping at the bit for war. He kept repeating that this was a declaration of war and we had to start thinking about retribution. (And this was before AQ was officially cited as the source of the attacks.) Several times he also mentioned that we would have to consider giving up some of our freedom for greater security. Interesting that this was his focus while the towers were still burning.

4. wow. thank you, alsame, for this post!
Yes, and there was confusion for years in the populace about when B*sh knew about the first plane hit, and the fact is he entered that school after he was called by Rice telling him about the first plane hitting the WTC! They knew all damned summer long about the potential of attacks by Bin Laden with hijackings and he still went into that school putting kids & teachers lives in danger instead of leaving. Why would he do that? Unless he knew there was no threat to him, because they knew possibly where the hijackings would take place? I dunno, but you'd expect a real leader, after being told (and knowing the Aug 6 briefing and all the other intelligence) that a plane had hit the WTC, to take off and immediately cancel the event he was going into. His face during those seven minutes when told about the 2nd plane are so damning. What a loser of a 'leader' he was, even if he wasn't involved - he surely failed in his duty in preventing. Condi's horrible performance in explaining things just made it worse. They are all guilty - none more than the president - he was our country's leader and knew about the threat.

12. maybe you fail to understand all summer long the President (you know him as great leader) was told
that there was an extremely heightened amount of warnings pointing to something occurring soon - and Smirk x-Commander AWOL told the daily briefing guy to beat it so he could go fish...

The Pentagon and World Trade Centers were damaged/destroyed under B*sh's watch. He had all the information that the President of the United States is given, and yet, he blew it. He even blew it so badly, that he knew about the warnings from the summer, and STILL went into that school after being called by Rice and told about the first plane hitting - WTH? He then, sat like a coward after the 2nd plane hit? What would YOU be saying if that was CLINTON??? Answer please, what would you be saying if that was Pres. Clinton?

Inquiring minds would love to know...

than a Halloween store.

He's my definition of a dumb fuck dressed up for specific occasions.
