unusual tornados in S. Calif.

http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php

Severe thunderstorms erupted over parts of Southern California on Saturday, producing large hail, damaging winds, and rural isolated tornadoes. I did decide to document the event, in a Southern California storm chase. I caught the tornado in the Eastern Inland Empire, South of Hemet, east of the highway by mid-morning. The tornado was not what you would see in the midwest, but it served a reminder that tornadoes were likely with the system. Thankfully, this touchdown happened in the rural end of the Eastern Inland Empire areas as well as the high desert. Additional small tornadoes were sighted in the middle of the desert between Twentynine Palms, Landers, and Lucerne Valley. TheWeatherSpace.com did issue a Tornado Watch for this part of Southern California on Saturday morning. The event was documented with golfball sized hail and isolated tornadoes. The event was likely one for the record books in Southern California as a hybrid storm system (monsoonal and cold core) clashed. The
photo was shot by Brian Martin; my brother, and part of the document team. Expect more thunderstorms across the region over the next few days.

1. I'm not seeing a pic.
While unusual, it's not the first tornado in that region; I lived there for 30 years. A tornado touched down a few miles north of my place a decade or so ago.

Flash floods, high winds...business as usual in the high desert. That's the report I got from my son yesterday, who still lives in the area.
