Kinda proud of my pithy reply to a right wing friend (he didn't get it, though...naturally)

Kinda proud of my pithy reply to a right wing friend (he didn't get it, though...naturally)
My friend wrote on Facebook; "The word "target" is violent rhetoric.
Advertisers create ads to "target" certain audiences.
Commercials must be guns and should be banned.
;)

My pithy reply; "Careful what you wish for.
If commercials were guns, the NRA would make sure that fully uncensored hardcore pornography commercials would be on every TV and up on billboards for all to see" :D

(for the record, this particular hard right friend of mine is also a RIDICULOUSLY devout fundie Christian, so I'm sure he is flabbergasted at what to do about my reply IF he gets it at all)

1. If his mind were open enough to understand
your reply, he likely wouldn't be a right wing hard core fundie christian, is my guess.

Write him off as a lost cause. If, by some miracle, he surprises you by getting it, then you have an opening and may be able to get through to him. It's been my experience lately that their minds are pretty much locked tightly shut, though, so it may not be worth it to you to waste a lot of time and energy on him.

2. Hopefully, he will think about what you said.
He will have to think about it before he answers, so if you don't hear from him you can assume he's lost his capacity to reason. Good one!

3. People like that only react to continuous negative input
Intermittant criticism is ineffective on them. One has to reinforce the negative criticism every time you see them for it to sink in. If you act like you are willing to accept their BS at all, they will continue to serve up their stupidity. I have finally broke thru to my sis in law. She was a hard-core fundie christian who thought she could spew her stupidity without repercussions around me, but she found all she got was logical, well-thought-out responses that proved her wrong. She is/was a FUX News conservative who got all of her info from them, so it was easy to show her the lies. Now, she's a fence-sitter, not willing to spew the ignorance (at least around me) for fear she will be corrected. She used to forward all the right-wing propaganda crap to me until I showed her what SNOPES was and told her to always look it up before she sent me anything. Now, I get nothing! HE he!
I even forwarded the SNOPES addy to everyone on her forward list which I'm sure is full of fundie christian conservatives.

Mess with the best, lose like the rest!

4. You are spot-on right Uben!
And that's normally how I approach my old friend (he IS an old college buddy and, as of now, he hasn't done anything worthy of my cutting off the friendship despite his teabagger ways)...in this case, I went with an out there hypothetical (one which I doubt he'll get, but you never know)...

He's SO severely christian, I figured drawing up a hypothetical situation based on HIS words that might result in porn of any kind might shake up his brain a bit. I dunno if it did, but I'll keep you all posted lol...

5. These were "Promise Keepers" I was dealing with....
...so she was in pretty deep. I honestly think she's seeing the light. The Bush years were extra hard on her because his actions were so hard to defend. Now, she claims no political affilliation, which shows she has made progress.
