Gallup: Congressional Dems beat GOP on generic 2012 ballot

Gallup: Congressional Dems beat GOP on generic 2012 ballot

In a new Gallup poll released Friday, a majority of registered voters say they would vote for a Democrat over a Republican if the 2012 congressional elections were held today.

The poll found 51 percent of voters leaning towards voting for a Democrat in next fall’s congressional election, with 44 percent saying they would vote Republican. Six percent were undecided, or would vote for a third party.

15. The Republicans will once again run against big bad old government...
(the government that they gummed up) and win the hearts and minds of low-information voters.

2. 2012
With the coming election I don't think there has ever been a
better time for Democrats to win the propaganda war. The
ammunition we have been given by the other side is is almost
limitless.

The history of the last 30 years of anti middle class
Reganism is enough, but we have the T Party with their small
government idea, an unworkable exercise in a country of 300
million.
Not only that , state governments are not able to raise
enough cash for projects and they also are cesspools of
corruption, cronyism and nepotism.

Then we have the Religious Right with their ideas of
"Dominion" and "Quiver" wishing to turn
America into a rights robbing Theocracy complete with total
subjugation of women, obedience to dogma, religious police and
witch hunts.

My God, what more do we need? Plaster this information along
with charts showing the truths about deficits, the decline of
wages, etc., on every available billboard for the next year,
rent the sides of interstate trailer trucks, be creative , TV
ads last only a few seconds, we need to use mediums that get
the message to the people and keep it there. Community
newspapers, church bulletins.

We can only win if the people are informed and need to
explore every avenue for doing so. We also need some good PR
firms to come up with the right sound bits and slogans like
the famous "Death Panels" of the right wing,
inaccurate sometimes misleading but very effective.

The outrageous ads of the right must be countered by even more
outrageous ads on our part, take their ads apart, repackage
them and dispute their claims, answer every point on every ad
they launch, that should be another strategy. We can win if
we have a winning strategy.

3. The odds are not good to hold the Senate with Obama's unpopularity
Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 02:58 AM by Hart2008
The Dems must defend 23 Senate seats to the Repukes 10. Presently, there are 51 Dems, and two
Independents who caucus with them. A loss of four seats results in a loss of the Senate.

Now look at Obama's approval ratings:

Approve% Disapprove % Approve minus Disapprove

ABC/Washington Post 8/29 - 9/1/11
43 53 - 10
Battleground LV 8/28 - 9/1/11
45 50 - 5
Fox RV 8/29-31/11
44 47 - 3
NBC/Wall St. Journal 8/27-31/11
44 51 - 7
Quinnipiac U. RV 8/16-27/11
42 52 - 10

Renominating Obama will result in losing the Senate with these numbers.

5. We MUST renominate President Obama, otherwise we will lose the White House.
Don't worry about Obama's approval/disapproval numbers, they will change over the next 14 months.
Also I do not believe poll numbers are very accurate anyway and I do not put much stock into them - many of the polls do not even include cell-phone users that do not have landlines.

7. NOT renominating President Obama will result
in most blacks staying home on Election Day and you cannot win without us.
And besides these Democratic senators have to run on their own records in their states.
WHY is EVERYTHING Obama's fault with you??

8. What, so you are threatening to hold the party hostage to racial politics?
Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 04:10 AM by Hart2008
Renominating Obama likely results in white flight from the party.

If Obama is renominated despite his unpopularity, the racial overtones will be exploited. Trump has already suggested that Obama benefited from affirmative action programs in his education. Look for those like Trump to label the party hostage to a minority of its membership and decrying Obama as an affirmative action president who is completely incapable of leading America.

No one wins from the kind of divisive racial politics that you are promoting, and some will label that kind of talk as a kind of reverse racism. Faux news would love to televise African-Americans talking like that. Please stick to the issues.

To answer you final question, ultimately Obama is the president and the buck stops with him. That must be the case regardless of the president's skin color. I do expect that one of Obama's primary challengers will be African-American to remind voters of that.

12. Trump? Really?
Trump is a fraud and a bully.

And a circus clown.

The people that like him are already voting Republican anyway.

11. Polls this early out mean nothing.
You're grasping at straws here. Besides, if you guys continue to get these Blue Dogs pieces of shit elected, what the hell difference does it make?

2012 ain't gonna be nice to what is commonly know as "Democrats" though that name is now virtually meaningless.
