In my time on earth, I have never seen the media promote a failed Vice Presidential Candidate the way they promoted Palin.

Think about it - was John Edwards even allowed near a camera in the aftermath of 2004?

Nor have I seen an effort to "mainstream" the fringe views of a politician in the way that the media attempted to make Palin's views and the views of her followers appear rational and worth serious consideration.

The media did the same thing with Palin's candidates in 2010 - Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell were treated as if they were credible candidates by most of the news media.

To me Palin's statement on the Arizona Tragedy really laid bare everything that makes her so far out of the mainstream of American Politics. I would expect this would be the end of her politically.

Can the media keep promoting her now, or will they see the light?

1. Yes, if it bleeds, it leads ...
and in her case, if she screeds, it leads.

3. Media is still promoting her the same way they did with Bush

Even when he was belligerent and frothing at the mouth, lying or making incoherent statements, media glossed over and acted like everything was normal.

5. She has been given an extreme amount of air time

As to past comparisons, Bob Dole was made ito a "witty" elderly statesman, who briefly had a show with Bill Clinton. His elderly statesman role was in spite of a tasteless Pepsi commercial with a teen age Britney Spears - and continued through saying that Kerry never bled in Vietnam.

As to Edwards, in 2005 and especially 2006, both Edwards were given substantial air time - especially on Elizabeth's first book. However, it pales in comparison to the time given to Palin. The good news with this and Palin is that the more people see the less they want her as President.
