* arrived before Bill Clinton after 9-11 attacks? Did anyone else see this lie on the 9-11 coverage
My Mom and Sister were both living in Manhattan when 9-11 happened. Since then they get EXTREMELY pissed-off when "documentaries" (history channel) insist that * arrived before former President Clinton. Hell, I've seen that lie on tv so many times I began to question if maybe my relatives had it wrong.

They were right of course, former President Clinton did arrive at Ground Zero before *. That's one of the reasons the firefighters were so hostile to the chimp-in-chief. According to my relatives, who watched it live on NY1 (the video log was gone last time I looked for it)the firefighters were saying things like "he finally showed up" in addition to "we can't hear you". Previously they had said to President Clinton "We miss you Bill", "we want you back", etc.

If you google "Bill Clinton" "September 13, 2001" you can find some conservatives sniveling about Clinton trying to "upstage" * by getting to Ground Zero before him. The links to the stories they quote are dead though.

1. Yes, but Clinton was in Australia when the attacks happened
So theoretically, Bush *was* here first, but it's a change in the definition of the word "here"

2. Naw, that won't work because the issue is who was at Ground Zero...
He might have been on the same planet but the wingnuts' version is from their alternate Bizarro universe.

5. I just read an interesting blog this weekend about a woman's experience on 9/11
Edited on Mon Sep-12-11 12:50 PM by Beacool
and the days after the attack. This woman lives in Greenwich Village and at one point in the blog she mentions seeing Bill and Chelsea Clinton standing on the corner of 4th Ave. and 12th St. asking people if they could be of help. She also mentions that there was no media around and she never saw anything on this on TV or written in the papers. I heard at the time similar stories about Hillary walking around Manhattan with minimal SS protection and no media in sight asking people what they needed. Some may disagree with the Clintons' politics, but they are good people.

;-)

14. You're welcome.
I should have included the link.

Here it is:

"As my husband and I were walking back to our apartment from the bus stop where we’d seen off our friends, we saw a familiar face standing on the corner of 4th Avenue and 12th Street, where we lived:

Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea Clinton, asking people in our neighborhood if we were all right, and if there was anything they could do to help.

I didn’t go up to shake the ex-President’s hand, because I was too shy.

But I stood there watching him and Chelsea, and something about seeing them, so genuinely concerned and kind (and not there for press or publicity, because there WAS no press, there was never any mention of their visit AT ALL in any newspaper or on any news broadcast I saw that day), made me burst into tears, after having held them in the whole time Shai had been in my apartment, since no one wanted to upset her by crying in front of her.

Both ex-President Clinton and Chelsea had been crying."

TOTALLY UNREPORTED IN THE MEDIA
TOTALLY UNMENTIONED BY AL GORE HIMSELF (well probably not totally but rarely)

7. I sometimes wonder if Stupid would have gone at all
if Clinton hadn't shamed him into it. Even then, Stupid required stands to be built and massive security enacted so that no one would ever get close enough to tell him any truths.

After all, that pile of smoking rubble was extremely toxic and we now know that they knew it.

8. One of the only reasons to smile during that time
was the widely-distributed photo of Bill Clinton and a little boy who threw his arms around President Clinton's waist. I was just hunting around for the picture on Google. I can't find it, but I know others here will remember it.

He was there before Bush. I distinctly remember both Bill Clinton and Al Gore beat Drinky McDumbass, and both were out of the US at the time. Al Gore drove across the border, IIRC.

9. Bill was there before Bushie Boy, and it took him a bit to
get back in to the US and I think If I remember right Al Gore made it there before Bush too. But I was pissed at Gore at the time so I was ignoring him.

11. They rewrite history
They have to, to make the Repukes look good. Hell they even left out WTC 7 in the documentaries. I guess it's normal for a 47 story building to fall again due to fire. The vapors from the HOT jet fuel may have traveled to WTC 7 hours later and made the steel weak as to make it fall down at 10 stories a second too. LOL! I think I will call those that believe fire can take down steel and concrete Bush Troopers.
