72% of Americans do not agree with Perry's views on Social Security.
Most Americans don't agree with GOP presidential hopeful Rick Perry that Social Security is a "monstrous lie," according to a new poll released after the Texas governor took heat from rival Mitt Romney about his depiction of the retirement program.

More than seven in 10 people, or 72%, in the CNN/ORC International survey said they didn't agree with Perry's description of Social Security being a "monstrous lie" to a younger generation counting on the program's retirement benefits.

At last night's GOP presidential debate, Perry didn't retreat from his view that Social Security is a "broken system." Perry, who leads Gallup and other national polls on the race, sparred with Romney, who said the Texan's characterization that the program is a "Ponzi scheme" scares senior citizens

1. If Perry gets the nomination by the time of the general he and the M$M will have amnesia..
This is just red meat for wingnuts, it will be totally forgotten by this time next year.

3. That's not enough of a majority to keep the Democrats from caving on everything.
72% is just too damn low.

99% is a much more comfortable position for the Democrats to negotiate with.

4. Even at that, "stakeholders" count like 100-1.

7. Republican logic, therefore, says keep turnout low
And if you can discourage folks from voting, prevent them from voting by enacting laws to keep them from the polls, or otherwise depress turnout, then your hard core 28% can dictate the terms of the election. The general election in 2008 had high participation by U.S. standards: 61.6%. You bring participation down a mere 6%, and your committed 28% provides a "mandate" to end the monstrous lie of Social Security.

8. there's that infamous 28 percent again.
Probably the same 28% that gave Bush thumbs up on job approval rating. 28% of the American public are brain-dead morons.

Someone should write a wikipedia article about the idiotic 28%.
