Rep. Kucinich may opt against Wash. congressional race

http://www.king5.com/news/politics/Rep-Kucinich-may-opt-against-Wash-congressional-race-129768963.html

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After flirting with the idea of seeking a congressional seat in Washington state, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich may stay in Ohio after all.

In a Tuesday statement issued after the release of a new GOP-proposed congressional map, Kucinich calls the decision not to dismantle his Cleveland district "an amazing turn of events."

The proposal would instead create a district along Lake Erie, forcing a likely face-off between Kucinich and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo.

Kucinich says he had been praying for a chance to continue representing his district.

1. I hope Kaptur wins
I think Dennis has a great voting record, but personally I feel Marcy is more effective. Just my opinion.

3. Kaptur would dismantle Kucinich in a head to head battle. She is smart and tough.
Kucinich would be better advised go fore-go a race and work on developing progressive democrats, similar to what Dean did, but develop more progressives.

4. Perhaps one of them
could be offered a job within the administration. That would be a nice gift to us progressives.

9. That's a strange thing to say. If you are joking, it isnt funny. If you are serious, where have you
been these last three years? Obama likes conservatives like Alan Simpson, Tom Geitner, Summers, Jeff Immelt, etc. Progressives are not allowed.

their seats. First, Alan Grayson, then Anthony Weiner and now Dennis Kucinich. Who will be left to speak to us on the left?

6. well, let's see: Barbara Lee, Lynn Woolsey, Rosa DeLauro
Donna Edwards, Keith Ellison, Peter Welch- to name a few. Yes, it's a shame to lose any, but there are quite a few beyond Weiner, Kucinich and Grayson.

8. But those three were the progressive pop stars
It may sound trivializing to put it that way, but they have/had name recognition and an ability to grab the headlines in a way the others you name don't. And that's why the GOP has been so eager to have them gone.

7. Marcie Kaptur is a very liberal rep.
She's the one who went against the banks, telling home owners "Don't you leave!" unless the bank showed them the mortgage note.

Why would he run against her? We need all the liberal voices we can get.
