4. Hmmm
She doesn't the 'it' in the you know what crazy eh? Too bad - If I'm centrist/moderate Republican I'm happy that she is on the "National Stage" as contrast to Palin. Polite, well spoken, intelligent, accomplished . . . vs. Strident, Abrasive, barely educated, questionable IQ. If she's not running? There's no turning back from the hard right extreme the Republican Party has become the home of.

5. She's wanted to move back to TX for ages. Thats why she ran for governor.
Maybe she'll leave politics altogether. As much as we make fun of her, we've had worse.

6. Good opportunity for a pick up seat if the Tea Party runs an Angle candidate.
This could work out well.

15. Perry did pander.
But he had, shall we say, "conventional" Republican support.

The Tea Party's homegrown candidates have a propensity to shed more support than they attract.

It may present a better chance than a traditional Republican.

8. KBH
I'm no fan of Kay B. Hutchison, but I imagine she sees her party going over the cliff into fanaticism. She's a moderate, but rarely breaks rank with R's in her voting record or public comments.

Any Repub running to replace her will no doubt be a far right, with the state of things now. Any Democrat with a slight chance to beat her will have to be moderate. I thought Bill White had a chance, but could not overcome Perry. He was endorsed by every major paper in the state, and had a good record as mayor. But the Hispanics were not motivated to come out and vote. A Hispanic with a very solid record, and charismatic, might have a chance, such as another Henry Cisneros. Ron Kirk, however, African-American, well liked Dallas mayor ran against Hutchison and wasn't elected.

Democrats are in the desert, now, in this state. Don't forget we are a large minority, but seldom get any help from the DNC. The most resources we got was when Howard Dean was leader of the DNC, with his 50-state strategy, and we did better in 2008 than any time in recent history.

14. Senator Tom Leppert
The Dallas mayor announced he won't be running for reelection this year. Instead, he wants to go to Washington where the real money is.

I think Hutchinson is going to give one last shot to a presidential run in 2012. (She'd certainly settle for the VP slot on the Republican slot ticket as consolation.)
