Do Democrats stand better chance at winning the House or the Presidency?

Can they win the House on the coattails of Barack Obama?

Or could Barack Obama win the Presidency on the coattails of a Democratic Congress?

Which would be the better odds?

It goes to reason that the more Democrats are elected to Congress, the more votes the President will get in his race.

Perhaps the best strategy is to run against the do-nothing Congress led by John Boehner? They have been terrible! To let them slide and focus entirely on the Presidential race would be an injustice. They deserve to be sent home.

This is something Democrats will have to contemplate.

I have never seen people so disgusted with their own Reps. Usually, their guy is OK but your SOB has got to go. Now it's their guy who's got to go.

Quite a few Democrats are going to be tossed out because of this, I'm afraid, but the bulk of the losers will likely be the baggers.

3. probably the presidency. With redistricting the house will be harder

but they should make some gains. I expect,however, the senate will go narrowly to the GOP given that so many dems are up and relatively few republican seats. As of right now, and hopefully the next year conditions will improve, but I feel there is a fair chance we will lose the presidency, senate and the house will remain in GOP hands. I don't see the fervor there once was for Obama even among key groups. I expect he will win younger voters and African-Americans, probably handily, but probably not by the same margins and I expect turnout will not be as strong among those groups as it was in 08, while I believe that the GOP will get up early to vote against Obama in 2012.

however there will be some interesting dynamics based on who the Republcans nominate.

The Tea Party can't carry an election. If the nominee holds true to alot of the Tea Baggisms, independants won't go there.

The House maybe if people decide to dump the baggers hard, the Senate may fall to the Republicans by a narrow margin due to the current composition and composition of the seats up for re-election next year. I dunno. I wonder if the public has had enough of their cherished "divided (i.e. dysfunctional) government"? :shrug: I hope next year is an "all-or-nothing" year in our favor but I just don't know anymore.

this could very easily be an overhaul of Congress. And, right now, I think it could be a situation where the President wins on the coattails of this overhaul. It may not end up in a Democratic House but I think there will be enough pressure put on Congressional Repubs just as much as there will be of defending President Obama's record.
