Repukes have a big plan to win PA - we must fight back |
|
See here: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/09/gop-electoral-college-plan-beat-obama-2012I'm bringing it to everyone's attention so we can make noise about this weaselly move. As the article says, only public pressure might stop it.

trust me, the state rep's, at least the R's anyway, generally don't listen to what the general public has to say.
If there's any recourse, it might have to come in the form of a State Supreme Court fight which might only have a remedy of having this be brought up for a referendum vote.
But, if it's just a mojority vote and governor approval, it doesn't look promising.

Yes, Repukes rarely listen, but we can try.

6. Personally, I think this might be the only option |

the state has to redistrict down to 18 congressional districts. That, unfortunately, is a fact. From my reading, they're trying to tie this into the redistricting. If so, that may well be unconstitutional. Not the redistricting, but the way electoral votes are determined. This isn't a federal issue.

Does PA have a mechanism to make this a referendum vote? I've been discussing this with Daylin Leach on FB. I'll suggest the referendum idea to him.
