Lest we forget....
Edited on Wed Sep-14-11 01:59 PM by kentuck
The Bush taxcuts are still in effect. How are they working out for you? Are they creating a lot of jobs in your neck of the woods?

I'm sure you know that your overall taxes are less now than they were when Bush left office? That should give you a lot of confidence in taxcuts as the solution to job creation?

Remember those wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Did you know those are going to cost us about $3 trillion dollars? Of course, you knew we put that on the old Bush and Republican gold credit card, didn't you?

Except for that one small incident called "9/11", Bush and the Republicans kept us safe from the terrorists. That's pretty good, isn't it?

Who was it that was handed a $240 billion dollar surplus, with a projected surplus of $5 trillion dollars by 2011, and, like magic, turned that into a $11 trillion dollar debt? That's something to really be proud of, don't you agree?

And who was it that slinked up to the microphones in September of 2008 to tell us that the entire economic system was in danger of collapsing? Who was the President then? I forget.

Who handed the present President a $1.2 trillion dollar deficit to start with and now are complaining that he is spending too much money? Would you call those people hypocrites or traitors?

Let's be honest. Why are we in this mess? If you say Barack Obama, you are a lying son of a bitch.

1. We've also had 30 years of "trickle down"
"Give the rich tax cuts and they'll reinvest in the country!" we were told. We weren't told which country, though.

I can't believe they're still using that lie as a campaign slogan...

3. It's time the truth be told.
Otherwise, the lies will overwhelm us all.

2. Why doesn't ONE REPORTER ask them that when they spew this
crap? ALL reporters should be calling them on it!

It's crazy - Have you seen the charts that show how unemployment grew since the tax cuts were implemented?

4. Good question. We've also had this payroll tax holiday in effect
that Obama says will create jobs.

5. It helps us to tread water but...
at what cost?

7. "If you say Barack Obama, you are a lying son of a bitch"
You're right.

Obama did not extend the tax cuts for the rich.

8. There was a little more to it...
but your point is well taken. The worsening economy, the unemployed, and the need for some more stimulus was figured into the equation, I am sure. But I would agree, it was a mistake. However, the situation that made the decision necessary was not the fault of Barack Obama.

10. I certainly agree that Bush did his damn best to ruin just about everything in eight years
There's no way that anyone could have it all cleaned up by now.

But I don't think Obama's actions have been helpful.

We needed to turn around 180 and full steam ahead (that is to say, back to where we were before Bush).

But that's not what happened, and I don't see any sign that Obama is trying to do that.

11. That is another discussion.
:-)

I was attempting to show that Democrats have the ammo to fight back if they so desire...

9. Slightly off topic if I may ...

I recall early on in Smirky's first term he did away with the jobs of the IRS auditors whose job it was to review
the tax returns of extremely wealthy taxpayers. Does anyone know if Obama restored these positions?
