No Thanks... And... Are You Fucking KIDDING Me ???
In my Inbox today...

Friend --

I'm writing to invite you to dinner.

If that sounds familiar, it's because we've done this before. I've asked the campaign to organize small, five-person dinners with supporters like you as a regular thing.

These dinners are important to me. Not just because they help me stay connected to supporters like you who are doing the hard work of building this campaign, but because they set us apart.

No matter what our opponents do over the next 14 months, we have chosen to put people at the heart of our campaign -- and we're focused on building it one grassroots donation at a time.

I'm asking you to make one today.

Will you donate $20 or more today to be automatically entered for a chance to join me for dinner?

I read a few letters every day from the many that come to the White House. Those personal connections with the people who put me here drive me and remind me why I set out to do this job in the first place.

Our focus on everyday Americans and their stories has always made our organization more than just a political campaign.

From the very beginning, we've set out to practice a different kind of politics -- proving that we don't need checks from Washington lobbyists or unlimited special-interest money to win an election.

That's why I'm asking you to step up and donate today. When you do, you'll be automatically entered to win a place at dinner:

https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner

Maybe I'll get to thank you in person.

Barack

35. Or....
They could just be obnoxious fans who do everything they can to irritate and piss off those who have never voted any way but straight Democratic ticket but are having a hard time with this one. The could call them names and make fun of them and insult them with stupid scare tactics. If they were snarky and insulting enough, it could just turn off votes that Obama needs. That would be one way, you think?

30. Mine was different:
***** -- (my name deleted)

Supporters like you are the reason I'm here, and the values we share have always made our organization more than just a political campaign.

So whenever I can, I want to take the opportunity to meet you. Last month, that meant I got to talk to folks in Iowa about small-business opportunities, and sit down with a group of volunteers from around the country who helped build this campaign in their communities this summer.

Today, I want to ask if you'll join me and three other supporters for a meal and conversation sometime soon.

Please donate $5 or more to be automatically entered for a chance to join me for dinner.

If this sounds a bit familiar to you, it's because we've done this before. In fact, my hope is that I'll be able to keep doing these dinners throughout the campaign.

They're a chance for me to talk one on one with people like you who are taking ownership of this campaign and connect with the work going on every day in neighborhoods across the country.

These dinners also set our campaign apart. No matter what our opponents do over the next 14 months, dinners like these are how we will continue to put people at the heart of this campaign -- and prove that we don't need checks from Washington lobbyists or special-interest PAC money to win an election. We can do it person to person, in our neighborhoods and backyards, and over the dinner table.

That's why I'm asking for your donation today. I hope you'll take a minute to help build this campaign. When you do, you'll have a chance to join me for dinner:

https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner

Maybe I'll get to thank you in person.

Barack

39. Dear WillyT: all them $20's can add up to some big bucks. Ain't that what
campaigning is all about? Who can raise the biggest pile of cash? A woeful aarrgghhhh. Here's what Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks sez' about all that campaign cash.

Schultz: In my view, why unemployment has stayed over nine percent is linked directly to Washington, DC. When I examined the cost of what the election cycle was in 2008, which was more than $4 billion, and it's estimated to be in 2012, which is $5.5 billion is gonna be spent on congressional re-election and the presidential election. Just think about that - $5.5 billion when we have 9 percent unemployment in America. And people don't know where their next meal is coming from. The system is completely broken.
