The word from our Democratic governor (note the difference in tone from Gov. Walker or Christie):

Gov. Chris Gregoire talked to both sides of Tacoma teacher contract negotiations today.

The governor is trying to nudge a deal along. She has passed ideas between the school district and teachers' union and provided some of her own, said spokesman Cory Curtis:

She said to all of them that her primary focus is, she wants kids in the classroom on Monday morning, and this is an issue that needs to be resolved at the bargaining table, not in the courts. They need to sit down and work it out.

1. i think these students were at the tacoma dome to welcome teachers

as we met to discuss continuing the strike.
they were wonderful. they held signs and cheered, chanting "we love our teachers".
the whole gauntlet high-fived us as we filed through.
it is these kinds of demonstrations on the part of our students that makes teachers inclined to accept poor working conditions, long hours, and low pay but it is also why we have no choice but to say "enough is enough" when conditions become intolerable.
