The development of the next generation of fighter jets has ballooned to cost taxpayers 382 BILLION dollars for 2443 aircraft.

Defense officials say the original cost estimates have now doubled to make each plane's price tag reach some 92 million dollars.

At the same time, the contract awarded in 2001 had been planned to last 10 years, but has been extended to 2016 because of testing and design issues.

I am just getting tired of the right bitching about SOCIALIST programs when our military is the largest socialist organization in the world. It's become an employment agency for those that can't find a job in their home areas.

I am not saying we don't need a top notch military...but nobody can convince me that we need to outspend the rest of the world combined to maintain it.

Where does it stop? 92 million each for a fighter jet.... man.... some of the contractors must be really raking in a profit.

I am sure if anyone started looking into this mess, they would find outlandish charges for the most mundane things.
