Davis Mothan Air force base on lockdown/
Edited on Fri Sep-16-11 03:21 PM by mfcorey1
TUCSON, Ariz. -- A Tucson fire spokeswoman says two ambulances were sent to an Air Force base that's on lockdown amid unconfirmed reports of gunfire.

A Davis-Monthan Air Force Base spokesperson would not confirm that shots had been fired or if anyone has been wounded.

Senior Airman Timothy Dunaway says traffic has been reduced to a single-point entry but he refused to elaborate.

He says two elementary schools on the base are on lockdown.

Tucson fire spokeswoman Trish Tracy says that besides the ambulances, two fire trucks were dispatched to the base.

Davis-Monthan is adjacent to the Pima Air & Space Museum and the "boneyard" for old military and government airplanes that is a popular destination for aviation enthusiasts.

1. Arizona air base on security lockdown
An air base in the US state of Arizona has been placed under partial lockdown, amid an unspecified security situation.

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base officials said the measure was taken due to "suspicious activity". Traffic has been limited around the facility.

They denied a local media report that shots had been fired or that someone had been injured.

A fire spokeswoman told AP news agency two ambulances had been sent to the base, which is near Tuscon

3. Holy crap!
My two oldest boys were born there, and we lived on base beside one of the schools for over a year.

I wonder why they needed an outside ambulance for a woman in labor? They used to have those (ambulances, that is) at the hospital.
