Don't let Republicans kid you. They're not opposed to raising fees:
Confusion from the Republicans as they scrounge to determine how to steal from Paul to feed their Peters.

Experts: More toll roads likely as gas taxes drop off

Dallari's words are echoed by U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Winter Park, chairman of the House transportation committee. He is trying to pass a six-month extension of the 18.4-cent-a-gallon gas tax through Congress. His bill also would extend FAA funding through Jan. 30.

Some Republicans have even talked of doing away the federal gas tax altogether and ceding responsibility to the states. But Mica maintains the federal gas levy is the "only viable" way to keep the nation's road network in shape.

He aims to make up for the growing shortfalls by doing away with some of the mandates placed on the gas tax. That includes eliminating a rule ensuring that 20 cents of every gas-tax dollar is spent on some combination of bike paths, sidewalks and transit.

The change would provide "more flexibility to the states," said Mica, who also wants to compress the review time of projects and encourage private investment.

1. Sometimes it's best to hide tax increases in usage taxes
if only you can laser those in on the rich.

5. Regressive tax policies they like, Progressive tax policies they hate

They aren't really against taxes. They just want to use tax policies to continue the redistribution Reagan started.

The recent call to never raise any taxes is only because they know that things are already so insanely imbalanced in their favor that if they do just lock things down as they are they middle class will eventually collapse.

Now that they have the tax policies they like in place they have moved onto the spending cuts.

6. Anytime a Republican says "more flexibility"
or "choices", grab your wallet and run.
