It will be Huntsman v. Obama |

The front runners are killing each other. Huntsman is the only semi-sane candidate.
Anyway...you heard it here first. Go Chargers.

because they're going to need somebody on the ticket who can talk far enough down to reach the wingnuts.
I don't think it'll be Huntsman, he's far too moderate and he doesn't belong to the Koch boys or their pet monkey Norquist. He might try to run things and they don't want that.
I still say it'll be Mitt, mostly because "it's his turn."

In a lot of polls right now Someone Else/Not Sure is beating Huntsman by 5 points.
He won't even make it to the Iowa caucus.

But I don't think the Repukes will nominate him, unless it's an accident, which I guess is what you're saying.
It seems to me, though, that he's running for a VP slot, now.

They are locked into appeasing the anti-science, anti-Obama, anti-tax religious fundamentalists that have taken over the party.
The powers that be in the GOP have lost control and the loonies are running the place.

as his poll numbers are so low (as in, 1%.) Tom Ridge just endorsed him.
You may be right; wouldn't bet against you. Could be an edifying campaign, if he gets Repug banner.

Jeb has money waiting for him that has been there since 1980. He will be a force to reckon with if (and when) he jumps into the race.
If he doesn't jump in, though, Martin O'Malley will kick his ass, if Jeb runs in 2016!

14. The only way Huntsman has a chance is if Perry or Romney stumble |
|
Huntsman has a lot of good qualities for a Republican nominee (please reread that again I did say for a Republican), but he's too centrist. The far right is going to push for a nominee that is more conservative. They are loud enough, they'll get what they want. Also Huntsman (as well as Romney) have the Mormon thing against them. I believe many people won't vote for a Mormon for president (including me). The Christian fundies will back a third party candidate if Romney or Huntsman get nominated (maybe less likely for Huntsman) which would help Obama.
All this is assuming both Ghouliani and Ms. Give me money don't get in the race.

I'd never off the family of another DUer. Remember to get him (or is it a her?) some photo ID for the next election.
If the worst happens and a Repug wins in 2012, do you think that you can train your pet to do some recon at the White House? We don't need anymore back room deals like what Cheney pulled with the energy industry.

26. A Mormon who supports gay civil unions & scoffs at those who rejects evolution and global warming ? |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-17-11 01:55 AM by Douglas Carpenter
That's not even remotely plausible.. He is completely out of step with the mainstream of today's Republican Party. It's possible that the GOP could nominate a non Tea Party/non fundamentalist - but they cannot possibly nominate someone who would be completely anathema to the Tea Party/Fundamentalist wing. The nominee would at the very least have to be minimally acceptable to them - certainly not someone like Huntsman who scoffs at them. Furthermore the grassroots activist core these days holds more influence in the party mechanism than they have at any time since 1964. This activist core is now completely dominated by the fundamentalist and now the tea party wing. No, there certainly is absolutely no possibility whatsoever of Huntsman winning the Republican nomination. That is ludicrous.
