I gotta ask: What's the point of holding this Wall Street Protest on a Saturday? |
|
Wouldn't it be more effective to hold it during a week day?

It's not a single day, "weekend warrior", protest, but a start on a weekend day.

2. Probably many protestors plan to stop by, express themselves, and then go home |
|
Easier on a Saturday if you have a M-F job. I'm sure some will stay for a while, though I'm skeptical that this will turn into a long-term campout. We'll see though I guess.

3. Why not? Some folks aren't able to take time off during the week days. |

The Sunday Morning Talk shows are tomorrow - while we're routinely ignored by the media, it could be a topic of interest. etc.

5. I thought the opposite was true |

Isn't that the point of a 'Friday news dump?'

8. All the flyers said "Bring Tent" -- so I guess they are gonna camp out until they get busted. |

10. A pretty damn good question. |
|
Another in the same vein but somewhat off topic is why our pols have town halls when folks with shit to do are at work, stuck in traffic, or otherwise tied up which gives the cantankerous and the bored an unfair representation.
They love these things during the work day. They'll have the occasional 7pm weeknight session, which are much saner but a weekend? A prime time evening (you know where one can go home, change, maybe even eat something?), laughable.

in. I think the real story is going to have to go past Monday though - DC has always let demonstrations take place on weekends when business is closed - same here in NYC. On Monday they will be disrupting business. Then we will see what impact they are having and how the city handles it.
