FRICKEN RASSUM FRASSEN NEW YAHOO EMAIL SYSTEM RASSUM FRASSEN!!!
Dammit!

If I were to type the profanities I want to right this moment, I am sure this would get locked!

Does anyone that is using the new Yahoo Email system know where the "Download Photo" feature is?

With the old system, when I sent a photo from my phone to myself, it was a simple task to download it to my desktop BECAUSE THERE WAS A HYPERLINK RIGHT THERE!

Now there isn't. Where the fuck did it go?

Can anyone of you help me please? God damned Yahoo. Can't get an answer out of them for shit. Of course, there isn't a phone number that I could find to talk to a real person, just their useless 'Email us your question and we'll get you an answer when we're ready' crap.

HELP! PLEASE!

Frargun frammit frassit schmangy frappish!

1. There should be a link to the attachment.
Then you click on link and say, yes to the prompt.

I think.

4. Not that I can find.....
I have sent several photos to myself. When I open the email, the picture loads in all its glory. With the old email system, only a thumbnail was displayed and next to it was a "download file" hyperlink.

For the life of me, I can not find a similar thing with this new system, and of course, it seems as if I and anyone else using Yahoo mail had no choice but to sooner or later upgrade (yeah, right...real fucking good upgrade!) to this new version.

I found that I could save it to MS Paint and save it to my desktop that way, but that is 4 extra steps that I didn't have to go through before.

Infuriating isn't the word. What should have taken me about 30 minutes to do has now turned into a 2 hour project, just to get a few photos from my phone to my desktop!

If only they would blow up the ONE particular Yahoo employee that thought this was an improvement!

Damn, good ol SCTV. That was some funny stuff.

5. The problem with reverting back to the old version...
is that it won't last apparently. Looks as if they are going to convert whether I like it or not next month, according to the "Upgrade now!" page that kept popping up.

Thanks though. I appreciate the link.

8. That is the way it was for me also BEFORE I was dumb enough to hit the "upgrade now" button!
Like I mentioned above, when I open the email with the picture in it, it doesn't show it as a thumbnail, but as a large, full size photo. For the life of me, I can not find the download feature now.

9. hmmm... apologies
Mine upgraded itself just a few days ago, :( and it is definitely different than before with my photos (as I described). Apparently, we are dealing with different upgrades. Sorry to not be more help. I know how frustrating it is.

11. Sokay.
I looked under the "options" tab to see if there was a way to open such emails with the photo showing as a thumbnail but I didn't see such an option.

Ah well.

I am getting them to my desktop, but it is now several more steps than it was before because I am copying it to paint, then saving as a JPEG. Doing it that way is a just a pain compared to before.

I found that if I tried right clicking and then saving to the folder I want, it saves it as a "Firefox File" and then opens on my computer with code, not as a picture.

I am not a complete computer novice, but a lot of this is above my pay grade! I just want shit like this to be simple. Yahoo just took the simple out of it.

12. Yes, but it doesn't give me that option.
I'm using Windows XP and Firefox.

Right clicking gives me a "save image as" option, but when I click that, The window that opens does NOT give me the ability to save as a jpeg. It offers 2 choices; "All Files" and "Firefox Document" When I saw that....well...that's where the Rassum Frassem started!

15. When you right-click, is 'Properties' an option?
If so, select it and copy the URL displayed.

I have a Gmail account......
the problem is, I think I have several (at least two) and I don't remember all the user names or passwords!

I'll have to start from scratch with them, I suppose.

24. Good thing about HTML mode gmail is it has no ads, none whatsoever.
It's pretty nifty and it loads faster than an old school static HTML web page.

14. My photo (and other) attachments show below the message
assuming there is one.

It looks like this (actually, this is a pdf file - a photo has two buttons: one says 'slideshow' and the other 'download'):

Then, when you click on the 'download' button, it opens this:

Then it downloads to my computer . . .

16. Well that's exactly what I'm looking for!
How the hell do I change it from opening as a full blown photo to opening like your screen shot?

That is what is frustrating me so much. No matter where I look, I can not find any way to modify the way my picture emails open.

18. Do you get the thumbnail or an embedded image?
Normally, if someone sends me a photo (or I send myself one) in an attachment, it looks just like the screenshot (a thumbnail) EXCEPT it has two buttons beneath it.

One says 'slideshow'; the other 'download'

If I click on the 'slideshow' button OR if I click on the thumbnail itself, I get the full-screen image thing (with the dark, semi-transparent background).

If I click the 'download' button instead (not clicking the image at all), I get the download box.

Do you not get the 'download' button beneath your thumbnail?

19. No thumbnail appears at all, now.
Before I did the upgrade, a thumbnail would appear, just as in your screenshot with the download button.

Now no thumbnail, instead the entire pic loads when I open the email and no where on the page is any download button or hyperlink.

20. Well, bugger.
The only thing I can think to check is in Options - Spam - Block Images.

Do you have it set to block images? Not sure if that would make a difference, but I can't think of anything else!

22. Disable Javascript, reload the page, and it will give you the option to
go back to the old version.

Then you can re-enable Javascript and it will still keep the old version.

I just finished restoring my yahoo mail to the old, "unimproved" version, per the instructions above and info at the link. THANK YOU, NYC Liberal!

The new yahoo email sucks so bad you'd swear the wind was blowing.
