1. I can't be there, but the protesters have my moral support.
At my previous corporate employer, whenever a new project arose there was always discussion about moving resources (meaning people) to cover the project.

On one occasion, when I was talking with another colleague in confidence, I mentioned that maybe people should be described as commodities instead.

My colleague asked, "Why?"

I told him that commodities are something that you "use up" and "dispose of" when finished. My statement was prophetic a few years later when I was handed my pink slip a couple weeks after receiving my 10-year appreciation award.

2. Great perspective - When those that think they are "safe" realize they aren't - reminds of...

This statement was published in a 1955 book by Milton Mayer, a German clergymen sent to Dachau, They Thought They Were Free :

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

.........

Thank you for speaking out. :fistbump:

4. I forgot to mention
that the employee that I made that remark to was handed his pink slip about six months later. The guy was about 62 with three daughters that he adopted from Russia and worked in the system & a hard-nosed Republican. Six months later that guy called up to the office looking for employment and asking for any leads that might come my way.
