Prince William buys hundreds of birds for Harry to shoot.
http://www.londonnet.co.uk/entertainment/2011/sep/prince-william-buys-hundreds-birds-harry-shoot.html

Prince William is staging a shoot to mark his brother Prince Harry's birthday.

Harry turned 27 yesterday (15.09.11) and spent the day training at RAF Wattisham airfield but now plans to celebrate his big day at a later date thanks to his brother William, who has bought 250 pheasant, duck and partridge for a shoot at their grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate.

Harry's army commitments means he may not get to enjoy the hunt until next year, but he is said to be planning a weekend of partying in London to celebrate his birthday instead after having to abstain from alcohol while flying military helicopters.

Such compassion from these two jackoffs. Apparently they learned nothing from their mother. Dick Cheney would be proud.

1. Being forced to live with birds at the moment... I have no problem with this.
In fact, I'll volunteer my brothers birds for the party.

4. Why is there always killing, killing, killing?
I guess, in my old age, I've become much more aware of "life".

So I simply do not understand, why these Holy and Pious religious types, want to kill, kill, kill...animals...and in many cases humans.

I just don't get it anymore.

41. Yea, they have a few yards to fly
out of the cage before one of the little princes blows them away, assuming that he knows how to use a gun properly. Do you know what a "canned bird hunt" really is? If you do, then you know what happens.

The noted ecologist, Aldo Leopold, who was a hunter, estimated that half of all animals shot by hunters were wounded, not recovered and eventually died. I will defer to his estimate.

7. Yikes! Disgusting --- !! Reminds me of a story about LBJ and hunting ....
evidently, LBJ used to treat some of his guests to a hunting event --

where he would take guests out late at night in the dark into the woods ---

and up into a tower ---

LBJ would then flash on spotlights into the darkness where deer would be caught

paralyzed as his guest could open fire on them!!

Birds have to be traded for some purpose. Shooting them is just as good as letting them rot in cages.

15. This garbage dates from the time it was one of the kingly duties
to go out and practice his war skills by killing the game that would be on the dining table that night. It's one of those traditions that makes no sense these days, royalty being able to send someone out to fetch anything their palates desire.

I guess it's like blood sport elsewhere, no one has ever thought to question why they were still doing it.

Bird in cage, open cage, shoot bird as it flies out. Pat self on back for hunting prowess. Go back to castle, have a brandy.

23. Sounds like the same "sport" that takes place in PA all of the time.
These "events" have nothing at all to do with sport or any activity in which civilized humans take part. Maybe they should invite cheney and nugent also. Both of those little pricks also like to kill living creatures for no good reason.

Gee....is it wrong to hope that there might be a few accidents (ala cheney)? I sure as hell don't think so, but I try to live in harmony with all creatures. I must admit to having a certain fondness for the higher evolved animals. Humans....MEH...I can go either way when I see stories like this one.

From: PennLive

For decades, compassionate and thoughtful residents have pressed Pennsylvania lawmakers to outlaw live pigeon shoots. These displays of wanton, stomach-churning cruelty have no reasonable justification — and each year the national spotlight of shame shines brighter on the state Capitol in Harrisburg.

Pa. is the only state that currently allows shooting of live pigeons for target practice.

Perhaps these events, in which live animals are used as living targets in so-called sporting matches, occur elsewhere in the shadows of American life. But there is no question that Pennsylvania reigns supreme as the place where this senseless slaughter occurs openly, year after year.

Organizers of these events trap thousands of live pigeons, mostly from cities, it is presumed, and truck them to the slaughter fields. The birds are stuffed into spring-loaded boxes and then launched into the air just yards in front of waiting shooters. Prizes are awarded for kills. Nobody eats the birds, and these creatures, with bodies full of lead shot, are just thrown in the trash. As you might guess, many birds are not killed outright, but wounded. Some are left to suffer for days and weeks. Neighbors report finding maimed and dying birds on their property.
