CA DUers: Why is Feinstein "vulnerable"? (Tweety) He said |
|
Michael Reagan (:puke:) is considering going up against her, and of course we heard that Orly Taitz is kicking it around, too. I actually thought 'ol Orly only missed being in the spotlight, but Tweety did say that Feinstein's approval ratings weren't so hot.
What do you guys think?

1. because she's often indistinguishable from a Republican? |
|
or at least, from the previous definition of "Republican," pre-"Third Way," and pre-Tea Party, etc...

She seems to have swung further and further Right.
And, that she is virtually invisible...We don't see her and we don't hear anything out of her.

6. Yeah, recently she came out with something -- a statement ? -- |
|
which was good (meaning we agreed with it) and I remember thinking boy, I haven't heard a peep out of her in a long time. But I'm not in CA so I figured that was it.

13. She was always a conservative Democrat. |
|
She was a conservative, anti-rent-control zealot on the SF Board of Supes when the killing of Mayor Moscone made her mayor, and she took off from there.

Schwartzenegger's polcies, she would be almost indistinguishabe from him.
Except he was far more liberal and reliable on the legalizing marijuana issue than she is.
She also does many things to continue to aid and abet the actual outcome of our elections so they go to the Republicans. (In my not so humble opinion.)

8. Do you think it could go to a Republican? I'm not worried about |
|
Taitz, and I know Californians don't fall for the Meg Whitman/Carly Fiorina BS, but could Reagan be viable?
THIS is where the Dems have to be prepared and have someone ready to go.

10. I no longer worry or think about it. |
|
Someone pays Di Fi very well to see to it that the Republicans usually win.
The only entity that doesn't have to worry about her is Jerry Brown, and he is very conservative also.
The state is too corrupt for me to spend time on.
I can do things locally, but certainly not state wide.

18. If we had a real media, and people like Feinstein were outed, |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 06:05 PM by truedelphi
There wouldn't be as much of a problem.
And if the broken voting machinery which is hacked all the time in many counties, were really and truly fixed, then a great many benefits would come about.
But as long as Di Fi can massage what she wants into reality, then we're screwn.
The fact that sixty billion dollars went out the door to PG & E/Enron, while a supposed very important lady Senator, supposedly liberal, was in a full array of her powers - this simply simply boggles my mind.
Especially given that much of this money came from poor and middle class people in California. (I forget the estimates as to when we will have finally paid off our debts to the fraudulent activities of PG & E, but it hasn't happened yet.)
Oh and over the last months, her wondrous husband, Richard Blum, just saw to it, along with the other regents of the UC Univ. system, that the Administrators and the professors with the most tenure, will get huge retirement and other benefits.
To pay for it, a sixteen percent increase in tuition will be coming down the pike. Again, money extracted from poorer people.

12. Oh some other things to realize about Di Fi - |
|
She spends a lot of her free time with the George Schultzes.
It was also very important to her personally for Bustamante, her hand picked Governor candidate, to lose, as only by his losing was her work on getting the PG & E/Enron ripoffs to remain in the coffers of the rich. Like the coffers of her own husband, Richard Blum. (That ripoff was worth 60 billion dollars to PG & E.)
I suspect that the couple would have been losers in terms of capital gains if Bustamante actually had won against Schwarzenegger.

3. Many here think that she hasn't done anything except sit in Washington, and I do |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-19-11 04:44 PM by demosincebirth
mean sit. We haven't heard her support, critique or speak, one why or the other about anything. She ought to take her queue from Boxer or Pelosi. Do something, say something. I would support a primary challenger. Maybe the Mayor of L.A. or Gavin Newsom.

|
she's past her sell-by date, just being senator now for the sake of being senator.

16. Yeah, time for some new blood. She's probably like a Supreme |
|
now, just hanging around until she doesn't want to anymore. I'm guessing she thinks she's got a lock on the vote since she's been there so long.

She could never win San Fran, where she cut her political teeth, for years... the rest of the state has finally gotten the memo

14. However the voting machinery in California is very questionable. |
|
So how we get who we get is anyone's guess.
In the SF Bay area, I am very familiar with problems in voting machinery in both Alamde and Marin Counties.
Unless significant changes have been made in both counties, the results there are often played with. And of course, never to the favor of the more liberal people running.

It's going to be damned rough come November, 2012, and we have to acknowledge that.
