Bachmann says vaccine retardation claim not hers
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Monday she was not arguing that a vaccine intended to prevent cervical cancer caused mental retardation when she repeated the scientifically unfounded claim last week.

The Minnesota congresswoman said she was relaying what a distraught woman told her after a GOP presidential debate in Florida in which Bachmann criticized rival Rick Perry for ordering the vaccine in Texas.

"All I was doing is relaying what a woman had said," Bachmann told The Associated Press after touring a manufacturer in Waterloo. "I relayed what she said. I wasn't attesting to her accuracy. I wasn't attesting to anything."

4. She reminds me of the vacuous beauty queen who can stand on stage and take instruction -
but when she's asked questions and has to think on her own, fails miserably.

11. I'm not sure if Palin is her mentor, but they are definitely similar,
As are some other GOP women. I dislike stereotypes but the commonalities can't be ignored.

19. No disagreement here.
I told my husband that GOP women are like dogs. Loyal to their masters with no ability to think for themselves. Their masters being, of course, their husbands and any other male that has a perceived rule over them.

10. As the mother of a special needs child.
"retarded" is a horrible, horrible word. My daughter heard that far too many times when she was young. Some words are just HATEFUL and should not be used to inflict wounds.

13. No responsibility whatsoever
Anything anyone tells her, she has no compunction about repeating it. No responsibility on her part to check into it, because she isn't "attesting" to anything.

I guess, in addition to asking Sen. Kyl every time he says something whether his utterance was intended to be factual, we have to ask Rep. Bachmann every time she says something whether she's "attesting" to what she's saying or just running her mouth.

15. "I personally believe, that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh,
some, people out there in our nation don't have syringes, and uh, I believe that our vaccinations like such as South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as . . . and, I believe they should, uh, our vaccination over here, in the the U.S. should help the U.S. or should help South Africa, and should help the Iraq and Asian countries so we will be able to build up our toxic vaccination reactions for us."

18. What a bunch of unmitigated bull
Sure Bachmann passed on that anecdote because she thought it was totally false but it just sounded like a good line at the time. Does she really expect people to believe that she didn't know or care whether the vaccine was truly involved in causing retardation. As a potential President of the United States do I really want a person that just 'goes with something they heard somewhere' and doesn't know when to keep their mouth shut when they don't really know the facts (okay I know that sounds like Bush the lesser but you get the idea).
