12. Right. Because if Ralph dropped out, Katherine Harris
Edited on Wed Sep-21-11 03:01 AM by EFerrari
would have shredded her list of thousands of black voters taken off the rolls illegally? Because if Ralph dropped out, the Brooks Brothers rioters would not have shut down the count and the Supreme Court would have found for Gore?

Seriously, that's ridiculous.

We just can't have anyone around who wants to exercise his rights in a democracy. We should all just swear loyalty to the party and shut up.

27. The Corporate overlords hand pick the talking heads that most Americans listen too,
idolize, and vote for...

In other words, corporations control the cost of getting elected, which gives them the biggest say over who doesn't.

16. This is America. Nobody needs to STFU!
Real democracy can withstand multiple parties and a diversity of views.

If our system -or the democratic party- is too weak to hear a third party candidate now and then it means we are tottering because we can't reach a majority with our message.

People that like to crybaby about Nadar are the same DINO idiots that voted for Bush in 2000. They like to blame Nadar, otherwise they would have to admit what failures they are for electing the war criminal over Al Gore.

48. Very simply this
He is trying to find someone to be a PRIMARY challenger to Obama.

http://articles.latimes.com/2011/sep/19/news/la-pn-nader-obama-20110919
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/09/20/nader-pushes-dems-to-challenge-obama-in-2012-primary/
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/182529-nader-calls-for-primary-against-obama?utm_campaign=hillballotbox&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

And just in case you need his own words to drive home the point:
http://www.bluecheddar.net/2011/09/19/ralph-nader-and-cornel-west-call-for-primary-on-president-obama/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ralph-nader-and-cornel-west-call-for-primary-on-president-obama

Here is the text that is the meat of the matter:

"Consider for a moment two very different scenarios for the 2012 Democratic presidential
primaries. The First scenario, President Obama advances without contest to a unanimous nomination. There is no recognizable Democratic challenger, no meaningful debate on key progressive issues or past broken promises, just a seamless, self-contained operation on its way to raising one billion dollars in campaign funds."

Now, what is so bad? First off, he is NOT talking about the Green party, which was his home (until they decided to run Cynthia McKinney for president in 2008, someone who has had much more experience in congress than Nader ever did.) He is talking about monkeying with the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. IF he wants to affect the DEMOCRATIC party, why does he not declare himself a DEMOCRAT.

Why? Could it be the way he showed no problems taking GOP cash? Could it be the fact he never even acknowledge the fact that the GOP supported his efforts, despite the fact that RUSH LIMBAUGH encouraged his listeners to send money to Nader, and GLOATED about how effective Nader was dividing the left in Florida?

I know, you read a post you disagreed with and assumed I did not read what "he has been saying lately." When I produced it. Never mind the fact I was in Florida when 2000 happened, and hear the local talk radio goons laugh about it! Glenn Beck was working Tampa Florida, at 970 WFLA, Tampa, being the local lead in to Rush Limbaugh, and he gladly encouraged his right wing audience to support Nader to divide the left. In case his name sounds familiar, well, the GOP liked what he did in Tampa, and you can say he got a promotion to the big leagues.

But back to the task at hand, Ralph Nader is not running as a third party type, but is trying to monkeywrench the democrats. It is one thing for Nader to say he is just trying to do free speech, it is another when he is lying and knowingly helping the exact same people that will ensure any left we have left is GONE. Granted, Ralph will not have to worry where his next meal comes from, but the rest of us do.

45. On the one hand, he a self-dealing,
untrustworthy demagogue and for a long time I disliked him more intensely than Bush 43 or even Osama Bin Laden. On the other hand, he has Hall of Fame credentials as a consumer advocate, he makes a lot of sense about most issues and he's very quick and knowledgeable. I think one principle of progressive thought is that of human redemption.

He has *no* right to talk about a primary challenge to Obama. That should be left to others. But barring that I am comfortable with him criticizing Obama/Republicans or addressing any other issue.
