Well, Elizabeth Warren just knocked 'em dead on Morning Joe!
The panel were mostly speechless. Mika gushed a bit, but she is outspoken in her support for Warren going back a few years.

Mark Halperin tried to trap her in a question about China's military, but she answered him so directly and knowledgeably that he shut up fast. Willy Geist made an ass out of himself, as did Barnicle. She characterized the tone of their questions which is "why don't you just give up trying to change Washington." She made a spirited pitch to be a voice sticking up for the middle class. She said she hoped that her voice could encourage other voices and yes, she actually said that could create a "movement." It dawned on me that she meant to have herself as starting a counterweight to the Tea Party. And I think she made people watching think "why not?"

When she finished her rousing call for ordinary people to come together against the powerful lobbies (and she singled out GE!!), everyone around the table was stunned. Not a yip or a yap.

I'm sure the segment will be up on the MJ website at msnbc.com later this morning. Take a look!

5. I wanted to slap Mark Halperin to get that sick grin off his face.
He was treating her as if she was ignorant about the "real" issues, i.e. military ones. Does he really think a Harvard law professor hasn't been keeping up to date on world affairs? She has a bank of resources that surely he, as a Harvard grad himself, ought to know about. What a cheesy guy he is!

I still can't believe Halperin sat there, all full of what he thought was his cool-kid that day, and called the President that.

9. That's his basic problem. He doesn't have the ability to "see" himself.
Except of course to admire himself in a mirror.

With more dicks like him trying to embarrass Warren, she'll win every time. Remember Rick Lazio?

93. I noticed that, too. And I don't hate Halperin. But it was pure snobbery. From another of the ..
men, as well. I forget who...was it Joe? Both of their questions were in condescending tones. And if anyone sees my posts and notices, they would tell you I am not one to cry sexism or be at a lack of recognizing the moderateness or not-so-badness in an opposing viewpoint. But even I noticed this lack of respect and condescending tone toward her.

But if she can't take that, she doesn't deserve the post. And she knocked it out of the park. The gal knows what she's speaking about! She's a person who can sit at the table with the Big Boys and get her ideas and opinions heard.

2. She's got a battle on her hands.
The Washington insider press core hates strong, smart progressive women. They also hate strong, smart progressive women who tell truth to power. She should prepare for the mudslinging now, because it will get worse, and we aren't even considering the Tea Party barrage she will hear next year.

10. We all hear the Media clamor about authenticity. If you were
watching Elizabeth Warren, you saw authenticy in spade.

Authenticy is not trying to be folksy dumbing down issues
and positions.

An authentic person is someone who has a core set of values,
believes in these values, rather than being ashamed to
discuss them, he/she goes full throttle willing to take
on any comer.

Elizabeth Warren believes in something and is more than
willing to fight for it. Just watch closely, some in our
own party may be threatened by her. After all she is
a populist Democrat on a mission. I hope the party is
smart enough to know a good thing when they see it.

Without the cutthroad capitalism that brought down the stock market in 1929, there would probably not have been an FDR as president. We are in similar straits now. The political pendulum (I hope and pray) is about to swing the other way...

32. Barnicle leans liberal but he's got some other baggage.
Mainly he doesn't seem to bother himself with western journalistic ethics. At least not consistently. Todd is a republican toady and not the sharpest tool in the shed. He'll never report a balanced story when a cheap shot will do as well. Weirdest thing with him, though, is I've seen him looking really tired a couple times and that's when he tends to let the truth slip out.
Willie's all about Willie and I think he leans conservative mainly because it's more conducive to that.

All the men were pretty much blown away and dumbfounded. They weren't expecting someone with so much honesty and conviction who is also smart and telling the truth and knows what she is talking about.

Something weird I noticed though. Were they filming in their regular studio? Joe had American flags behind him as a background and Mika next to him just had a plain blue background. Like maybe they were trying to visually discredit Mika somehow with the contrast...

Because, if not, I'd like to suggest Elizabeth Warren for President, 2016. I don't know if the left would tolerate another middle of the road candidate like Obama or Clinton. I surely won't. No, it's going to take a true progressive like EW to make me get excited enough about politics to volunteer again.

They certainly did not hold back on their degree of difficulty on questions posed to Elizabeth this morning. The beauty of this is that Elizabeth is no slouch and nor is she lazy, she did a great job of answering the questions that were asked of her. Elizabeth is one smart lady and though I do believe some of the questions that were leveled at her were a bit "sly" as we say I know this, Elizabeth is a very quick study and the more you dance around and play games with her the sharper and more tuned she is bound to get.

I almost want to stand in defense of Elizabeth and warn the Republican party to watch their step with her, but you know I hope they go full boar at her. I really do. Because the further they go, the more games they play the more traction she is bound to get.

As for the beltway media, I say bring it the fuck on. There is a huge disconnect between the vast majority of what the beltway is spewing and what the people are hearing and seeing. In other words the people are mentally "tuning out the press" they are fed up!

69. Warren looks like our new super hero now, but just wait
After she wins the Massachusetts seat, big money will start to reel her in. She will have to raise $30,000 a week, each week and every week. Right now she can say "Washington is wired for big corporations" but when you start spending half your time soliciting from that big money, you would feel like a hypocrite to continue criticizing them and besides, their lobbyists are actually nice people and we have some interesting conversations.

Welcome to the Washington culture. Welcome to the machine. We own you. Next.

But if you put a brand new part in a broken machine, the machine is still broken.

Al Franken is a very very smart guy, an academic like Warren. Al had one of his Harvard classes research and help write the book Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot, which seems like a pretty smart move to me. The kids had fun learning how to write a book about what liars repugs are and not get sued and hopefully start them on the proper (lol) liberal path. Has there been one ounce of difference in DC since Al has been there?

I couldn't like Elizabeth Warren more, but she will be assimilated by the Borg.

It must be Elizabeth forgot to use her jedi mind powers on Obama and Geithner before they decided house the Consumer Protection Agency inside the Federal Reserve which pretty much just gutted its powers. Thats just letting the banks decide what rules will be enforced on themselves.

Money rules Washington and Elizabeth is a lawyer not a shrink.

94. She might not have to do that. I bet Bernie Sanders doesn't.
Some members of Congress don't. My representative raises some money, but his seat is so extremely secure that he really doesn't worry about it that much.

97. I think 25000 - 30000 a week is the average for a senator
Bernie has raised about 14,000,000 in 21 years but he has only been a senator since 06. Congressmen spend 25-50% of their time raising money.

She was wonderful. The worst smartass, I think, was Halperin....and she played with him a little before she lowered the boom on him.
I wish I lived in Massachusetts so I could vote for her.
Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the Presidential election. 2016, maybe?lll
And of COURSE I will sign up and contribute to the campaign.
Thank you.

Wow, so many messages in there. She read between the lines faster than these bozos could think. They're so used to pushovers and reactionaries they didn't have a chance with her. What extra refreshing is that she wasn't a normal politician and she's already learned to use those consumers hearings to her advantage. Brilliant.

86. Well, Ed Schultz thinks she's a dud, which almost certainly means
she has the right stuff to put a whupping on Scott Brown!

Seriously - Schultz slammed her today, for not being specific enough in her support for Obama's speech the other day, never mind the fact that she's been out there in every interview, totally pushing forward the idea that the middle class has gotten fucked over, and it's about time to start doing something to change that.

What a great contrast Warren is to someone like Wasserman-Schultz. Honesty, intergity, genuine passion and enthusiasm for the citizenry.

Wonder how long it will be before the DLC thugs cut her down?

While answering the questions with confidence, she was also able to teach the subject. She did it in ways that everyone could grasp and she instills the need for you to expand on what she just taught you.

99. I saw this and found it totally remarkable
You are absolutely correct the China question was a trap which she effectively shut down. And the truly amazing thing is that she has pulled ahead of Scott Brown by about 6 points, after a weak start not so long ago of being something like 20 points behind. The voters in Massachusetts must also be impressed. She is totally great.

Maybe, maybe not about Republicans wishing she were headed to the CFPB. You can bet that corporations are going to lending her opponent millions of dollars. If her opponent wins, those same corporations (and banks) will want their moneys worth from the shill.
