1. I didn't get much response to my post, either!
I listened (Sirius). I found it encouraging, esp. US role under Obama in catalyzing Arab Spring.

You?

2. I only caught the tail end of it and heard a lot of platitudes.
Hypocritical ones about "supporting" gays and lesbians and real nonsense about "open societies". I understand that earlier he came out with rationalizations for vetoing the Palestinian resolution and later praised the "Arab Spring". :banghead:

4. If he vetoes the Palestinian bid for statehood, he will irreparably antagonize the Mideast.
Especially at a time when the Arab world is rebelling against its oppressors, it would be incongruous for the US to simultaneously reach out to these people who are rebelling while simultaneously denying another group of people their aspiration to be free.

US relations in the entire region would be damaged, and in the worst case, the Arab Spring will become nothing more than another missed opportunity, not a chance to strike a new path.

The people on the Arab street are watching, and they're waiting for Obama's answer.

5. It's called Self-Determination Mr. President. Look it up once in a while
and stop embarrassing yourself and the country while ignoring the reality.

The "direct negotiation" schtick is insulting. We've been down that road for too long. Stop peddling yesterday's trash, dude.

6. "self-determination"
An odd concept in the land of no public option but endless global wars.

I doubt his own presidency is "self-determined."
