1. I loved it. She is awesome. |
|
I love the way she leaned forward, on her elbow, very casual. She obviously is not a seasoned politician, which is part of what is so appealing. She was natural, like talking to someone you've hung out with before, not like a polished, practiced douche bag who has been instructed on what to say about any given subject. She's intelligent and personable and I wish her (and Massachusetts) the best of luck!

3. Was it my imagination or did the other panelists look *cowed*? |
|
The guy working for Perry looked like he wanted to abandon ship for Warren!, imo. I think she's going to be a real force, and I'd vote for her any day of the week & twice on Sundays.

shore up Jewish votes within Perry's campaign?

21. Oh yeah, that's John Heileman, I forgot him. But that was a JOKE! |
|
He's down in Austin for the band festival there. Scarborough was kidding. Heileman co-wrote that book on the campaign "Game Change" with Halperin, altho he is not smarmy like Halperin. Joe's been cracking wise remarks about Heileman being there. Heileman is a political journalist and writes for New York Magazine. It did seem to fool Warren, who seemed to take Joe's remark at face value.

9. He was trying a "gotcha" question, thinking he'd pull what was pulled on Sarah Palin. |
|
He wanted to make her out to be a one trick pony, totally lacking in any foreign policy or military policy areas.
Halperin didn't care aabout the "Chinese army." He totally pulled that out of his ass.
This is the second time he's spouted off like an idiot, trying to make himself look like a tough guy. He just looked and sounded like a jerk...

I'm super glad she's who she is (on our side). That said, she *does* have a talking-down air. I didn't see HALPERIN as shutting up because she defeated him. He thought she had skated around his "military" trap, the same attitude the media had towards GORE as being elitist.

10. But he was, as usual, "too clever by half" as the Brits say. |
|
It looked very obvious that all he was interested in was "gotcha." That doesn't make him look serious. It makes him look like a jerk.
Besides, Warren has an abundance of resources at her fingertips that she can call upon, as Halperin should know. She probably has some of the ablest foreign policy advisors in the country. And she has the Kennedy School of Politics at Harvard as well. Halperin should not have tried to cast her as a Sarah Palin. Her answer was right on. It was exactly right. And if he had pulled his head out of his ass long enough to think this thing through he would have realized that it was a fool's errand.

14. I didn't see or hear a talking down air. |
|
She was straight to the point, clear and concise. She didn't use ten dollar words, to show how intelligent she is. Everyone, from no education to higher education would be able to understand her. The voice she used is the voice that all moms have, or at least good moms have. A voice that explains in no uncertain terms that she means what she says. A voice that every kid recognizes as "she's not kidding, she's serious". I think this is exactly the type of 'mom' America needs right now.

Pictures are important. If you are going to be a defender of the middle class, try not to be photographed with yachts and sailboats in the background. :-)

15. I don't think she had a choice. The studios pretty much |
|
have control of that. She may have been in front of a green screen and would never know what was going on behind her.

23. Do you think her being addressed as "professor Warren" is a drawback? |
|
I was pondering that. Mika called her Elizabeth but the men called her Professor Warren. At first, I thought they were being a bit snarky but I guess I shouldn't be took suspicious at this point...

24. Only for the Tea Bagger...intelligence is a drawback. |
|
Won't matter though...she's a pointy-headed elitist, but she's running in a state full of pointed-headed elitists (I can say that -- I was born in MA, raised my own kids there).

25. Well, she was raised in OK on the edge of poverty and worked in a factory. |
|
I don't think she qualifies her to be in any way a "pointy-headed elitist." If that's the term we Dems want to use, let's use it against Mitt Romney, not Warren!

|
In the minds of Tea Baggers, even someone with a high school education is a pointy-headed elitist.
